Prologue

Prologue Nearly 3 years earlier

Jayde Carter, walked nervously into the court room.

"Please state your full name for the record and spell it."

"Jayde Evelyn Grayce Carter. JAYDE EVELYN GRAYCE CARTER." The shy black haired girl with Caribbean blue eyes said softly.

"Miss Carter, please raise your right hand and repeat after me. I Jayde Evelyn Grayce Carter swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth."

"I Jayde Evelyn Grayce Carter swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth." Jayde repeated after her.

"Thank you Miss Carter. You may have a seat on the witness stand. Have you ever been a witness before Miss Carter?"

"No madam."Jayde answered her.

"You will be asked questions. If a lawyer says objection do not answer. I say either over ruled which you can answer you or sustained which means you cannot. Do you understand Miss Carter."

"Yes madam."

Seven long hours she waited. It was torture. Finally they called me into the court room.

"Madam floor person, on the charge of murder in the first degree how do you find the defendant?"

"We the people find the defendant not guilty."

"Madam floor person, on the charge of battery and assault. In the second degree how do you find the defendant?"

"We the people find the defendant Guilty."

"And the second charge of battery and assault in the second degree?"

"We the people find the defendant Guilty."

"Kristopher Torrence Lance Smalley, you are ordered to 8 years in prison with possibility of release in 3 years."

Jayde felt really hurt. He was support to get charged with murder. He purposely killed her mother Elise Carter.

"Jayde! Jayde look over here! We're you surprised by how long your step father would be in jail for?" A reporter asked her.

"Please just leave me alone!" Jayde said running.

THE NEXT DAY.......

Jonathan Patrick Tyler was sitting at his kitchen table reading the newspaper.

The newspaper he was reading there was a young beautiful girl on the cover her face covered in grief.

ONLY 8 YEARS FOR A BATTERY ASSULT AND NO TIME FOR MURDER

Kristopher Torrence Lance Smalley gets off with only 8 years and has the ability of being released in 3 years. His stepdaughter, JAYDE CARTER was hoping to have him charged with the death of her mother, Elise Marcus Carter Smalley. Unfortunately, Carter was believed an unreliable resource because she was beaten by K. Smalley multipule times. There was also not enough evidence to convict him. So with 2 counts of battery, and eight years. Carter wonders if something more could have been done to keep him in prison.

Jonathan was shocked at how she looked.

One year later....

CARTER MISSING

JAYDE EVELYN CARTER has been missing ever since her stepfather's appeal in March. People wonder why she is hiding from the spot light.

KRISTOPHER SMALLEY appeal has been denied. But since there are too many people in jail, Smalley will probably be released on good behavior in two years.
