Chapter 2 Running From The Past
Jayde could tell someone was fallowing her. The tears were streaming down her face like there is no tomorrow.
"Jayde! I'm soo sorry she shouldn't have said that." Abigail said trying her hardest to catch up with Jayde.
Jayde finally stopped when she fell to the ground and just let her tears fall. As soon as Abigail reached her, Jonathan was next to Jayde. Pulling her into his arms, rubbing her back as he held her tightly to his chest. Telling her it will be alright.
Once she calmed down a bit, Jonathan started whispering to her. "Jayde, I am so very very sorry. You are nothing like what she called you. You are precious and beautiful don't even for a second take anything that she said as true."
"Thank you." Jayde said softly.
"Let's get you back to the apartment. And then you can tell me anything you want." Jonathan said so she knew he wanted to know what made her run. Then turning to face Abigail he said, "Abigail, you ready?"
"Yes." She said quietly.
He passed the keys to Abigail.
"Can you drive us back home?" Jonathan asked his sister.
"Sure." She said taking the keys and getting into the driver seat while Jonathan and Jayde got in the back seat.
"Jayde, Asia had no right to call you what she called you. Asia and I went out for three months four years ago. I broke up with her when I went over to surprise her and saw her sleeping with someone I hired. I broke up with her and she got really mad. She told me I would regret it. But I don't. It was the best decision I ever made."
"I'm sorry for running off." Jayde apologized in a quiet voice.
"It's okay I could tell it was too much for you all of the sudden. It was the second time you were insulted today." Jonathan said referring to both Ava and Asia.
"Oh I forgot about Ava. I wonder how she has managed to keep her job. I mean if she treats all of the customers like that she would have been fired on the spot, right?" Jayde said confused.
"Trent can't fire her yet unfortunately. He has a 3 month contract with her father. He asked Trent to hire her for three months and if she still is completely spoiled, he will cut her off." Jonathan said sadly.
"Oh." Jayde said quietly.
Abby drove the truck into the underground garage and said, "I'm going to go visit EJ."
"Okay." Jonny said.
"I'll see you later Abigail." Jayde said watching her get into the elevator.
Jonathan and Jayde got out of the truck and headed towards the elevator. They had to wait a couple of minutes for the elevator. Then they got in and went to the 35 floor.
Jonathan took out keys and unlocked the door.
They walked in and sat on the couch. Jayde took a deep breath and started to talk about why she ran.
"When I was little, I would go to school and people called me ugly. Rumors spread when I was 12 that I was raped by my stepfather, which wasn't true.
"I would come to school black and blue from being beaten by Kris. I had no friends because everyone in town knew Kris was a bad guy, but it was worse when he drank.
"My mom started dating him 4 days after Christmas when I was 7. My mom married him New Years Eve. The day before I turned 12.
"When I was 13, someone finally called CPS. They took me from my mom and Kris for two weeks. And put me into foster care but they thought he did nothing wrong. So they gave me back to my mom. As soon as Kris knew he wasn't being watched, he beat me. He told me never to tell anyone again.
"The more he drank, the more he would beat us. No one would believe me.
