I shyly walked into the half-full classroom which was where the Bible club was meeting. Everyone stared at me. Of course they were all thinking the same thing: what is that girl doing here, she's not a Christian... Is she?
Mrs. Em, the teacher who supervises the club, kindly welcomed me. She was the only person who spoke to me.
After the meeting Mrs. Em asked to speak with me.
"How are you, Briella?" She asked.
"I'm fine. How are you?"
"I'm wonderful, thank you. So what brought you to Bible club today?"
"Oh just thought I'd check it out."
"Did you enjoy the meeting."
"Oh yes, very interesting."
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you ever need anything please come see me. You know where to find me."
"Yes ma'am."
"I hope to see you again next Monday. Have a nice day, Briella."
"You too, Mrs. Em."
That was the nicest any adult had ever been to me. Seriously.
The next day when I got to school one of the members of the Bible club hesitantly came up to me.
"Hi." He said, shyly.
"Hey." I replied
"I saw you in Bible club yesterday."
"Yeah, I saw you too."
"My name's Peter, by the way."
"I'm Briella."
"I'm sorry I didn't speak to you... I was too shy. You're so pretty."
My jaw dropped.
"Uh... Thank you." I replied, flabbergasted.
"Do you want to go get ice cream after school?" He asked the ground.
"Sure." I replied with a smile.
The whole day I was in a good mood. This shy boy asked me on a date. He told me I was pretty. He was actually kind of cute, too. He had blonde hair, cut just long enough that it could be parted to the side, he had blue eyes that could only look on you with kindness, and a smooth face, with a chiseled jaw line. I think he was a senior. Seniors never asked Freshman out. Never. Then again, this guy didn't actually fit the normal teen stereotypes. He seemed kind, shy, and caring.
