<(Y/N)'s POV>

I was walking down the halls of Hogwarts castle, wand and books in hand. I could feel her glares on me the whole time. Who is 'her' you may ask? Lily Evans. I don't know why she dislikes me. I don't think I have done anything for her to dislike me. I'm not really one to want to cause fights or stir things up between people. I turned to look round at her. She continued to stare at me with narrow eyes as she walked alongside her friends. We were heading to Transfiguration and sadly, since we were in the same house, we had the same classes...

My partner in Transfiguration is James Potter who liked to talk... A lot. I also notice that Evans tends to glare at me the most during this lesson for reasons that are unknown to me, but she made me uncomfortable.

I sat down just as James walked into the room with Remus, Sirius and Peter, who was following behind them as usual. I looked back to the front as James sat down and I felt Evans' glare behind me. I shifted in my seat under her intimidating stare, James noticing my worried expression.

"You okay there, (L/n)?" He asked. I just nodded, not giving him any of my attention. He leaned closer to me. "Aw~ Come on, (L/n). You can tell me anything," He whispered, causing a very light blush to form on my cheeks, my eyes widening before narrowing and facing him. I shoved his face away gently.

"Shut up Potter, I'm fine," I said.

"Why do we call each other by our last names?" He asked, he almost seemed to dislike the idea.

"Because Potter, we are merely acquaintances," I said before turning my attention to Professor McGonagall. He didn't say anything after that or for the rest of the lesson which was unusual since he was usually very talkative. He was also seemed very downhearted about something but I wasn't sure what it was about.

*** Time skip to Dinner in The Great Hall ***

I finished my dinner quickly, wanting to head back to my dorm so I could sleep. I was for some reason, very tired today and I felt the need to get some shut-eye early, but unfortunately I was stopped in my tracks by a certain red head.

"(L/n)! I want to have a talk with you," she said from behind me, startling me. I merely turned my head slightly to see her out the corner of my eye. She had her wand in hand and I didn't like the way she was looking at me with it. "I saw you with him today. And I don't like it," She growled. I just gave her a confused look, before facing her fully.

"Huh? Who are you talking about? Who's him?" I asked, tilting my head to one side, grabbing my wand but keeping out of sight.

"Oh give it a rest. Of course you do. I don't even know why he likes you. You're ugly and you steal other people's lovers. You don't deserve to be with anyone. You should be alone forever," She yelled. Tears welled up in the corner of my eyes. Normally, I was strong and something like this wouldn't bother me but the way she said it with such hatred... It hurt. She waved her wand angrily sending a hex toward me, but luckily for me I had blocked it with my wand that I had ready in hand. She sent them flying as I struggled to shield them from me in time. I decided to take the chance to sprint down the corridor. I was much faster than her so I took this as an advantage. I turned a third corner before bumping into someone. I looked up to see James with a worried look when he saw that it was me and my cheeks were stained with tears.

"(L/n)? What's wrong? Are you okay? Did someone upset you?" he asked multiple questions as he pulled me into his chest to hug me. I sniffed and pushed him away, I noticed a look of disappointment on his face.

"Why do you care?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows, turning my head away from him.

"Because I do. So please tell me," He pleaded as he placed his hands on my cheeks to make me look at him. I blushed. My eyes looked everywhere but his before placing my hands on his wrists. I closed my eyes and sighed.

"If you really want to know... it was Lily Evans. She's angry with me about something but I don't know why. She said something about someone liking me and accusing me of stealing them away from her but how am I supposed to know who it is I'm 'stealing' from her?I don't even know who she likes... She called me ugly and said I don't deserve anyone and I should be alone forever. She's probably rig--," Before I could finish my sentence, I felt a pair of lips latch themselves to mine. My eyes widened, soon realising it was James. I blushed darkly, just like him. I eventually had the courage to kiss back, gently squeezing his wrists. He then let go of my face and wrapped his arms round my waist as I held onto his clothed chest. That was when we heard stomping and an angry cry come from close by.

"No! He's mine!" Lily screamed out in jealousy, raising her wand up before James stood in front of me protectively. She immediately dropped it, not wanting to harm the person she loved.

"I'm not yours, I'm (Y/n)'s and (Y/n)'s mine. I love her, not you and she's not ugly. She's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Don't you dare come near her again. I will never love you like I love her!" He said firmly toward the now brokenhearted girl. I just stared at the back of his head, replaying his confession in my head. He was the one Lily was talking about, who liked me. All those times in Transfiguration classes. Was he trying to flirt? It was only now that I realised I liked him too. I didn't see Lily run away in tears but when James turned round I couldn't help but kiss him again. It was his turn to be surprised. He pulled me closer before breaking the kiss and resting his forehead on mine. "I thought we were just acquaintances," he said staring into my (E/c) eyes.

"So did I, but it turns out I like you too," I said, giving him a cute smile. I watched as his cheeks burned red before snuggling his face into my neck.

"I love you, (Y/n)," I heard him say. I smiled.

"I love you too, James," I replied.
