I woke in the best mood ever. With my eyes still closed I saw Caleb's face in my mind. His smile. His lips pressed against mine. My stomach did a backflip just thinking about it.
I finally opened my eyes and remembered that today was the first day of summer.
I got up and did my morning routine then picked up my phone and walked downstairs to the kitchen. My parents weren't awake yet so I quietly made myself a bowl of cereal and sat down on the couch.
I checked my phone and saw that Sarah tried calling me and texted me.
Caleb also texted me this morning.
I called Sarah first.
As soon as she picked up she started rambling and I could hear the excitement in her voice.
I laughed and told her to slow down.
" Steve is such a gentleman. He held my hand during the movie and he said that I had gorgeous eyes and that he thought my laugh was like angels singing. Cheesy right! Where we're you? I looked for you but couldn't find you so then Steve and I left and went to his house and I spent the night there but he didn't try to fuck me or anything! I slept in the guest room and he slept in his own room. And his parents loved me!" she said all of this is one breath and after regaining it she laughed and I laughed too.
" We looked for you too but you weren't there. I'm happy that he's a gentleman. The movie was halarious! Caleb kissed me. You met his parents! That's amazing. I'm do happy for you guys. What was his house like?" I threw in the part about Caleb and hoped she didn't notice.
" He lives in this big and, wait what?! He kissed you?" she asked.
I smiled at the memory.
" Yeah. We were talking in his car and he was telling me that I was beautiful and that he thought it was cute when I blushed and then it happened. He kissed me. But Sarah. I really like him. I can't explain it. Like when I first saw him in the hospital. I don't know. And in the car. Oh my gosh! You know I'm shy but I just couldn't stop talking to him on the drive back to my house." I said.
I was blushing as I was thinking about him and I waved my free hand at my face to cool myself down.
I heard her sigh but I could tell she was smiling.
" I'm happy for you. Just be careful. I don't want him to break your heart and I would just have to kill him for hurting my baby" she said playfully.
I laughed.
" Have I ever told you you are the best?" I said.
I put down my empty bowl of cereal and lied down.
" Yes but not enough" she said playfully.
I told her to shut up then we talked for a whole longer. She gave me more details and I did the same for her. After about another hour of talking we promised each other to hang out another day and hung up.
I opened up the text from Caleb.

Caleb: good morning beautiful
I blushed and replied.
Me: good morning

I got up and cleaned out my bowl and went back to the living room to see he already replied. I smiled.

Caleb: plans for today?
Me: No.
Caleb: Want to come over?

I thought a while about this.

Me: Sure. Pick me up?
Caleb: Of course. Be ready in twenty?
Me: Yeah

I got up and quickly jogged up my steps and tried to figure out what to wear. I gave up and decided on a yellow sundress that came to my knees. I slipped on a pair of white sandals and went to the bathroom and brushed my hair then fluffed it up a little so my wavy hair seemed to have more body. My hone went off and I didn't bother looking at it, knowing that it was him saying he was here. I decided to not where makeup but put on some chap stick really quick.
I went downstairs and left a quick note for my parents letting them know where I was and left it on the kitchen counter.
I made sure I had my phone and keys and left making sure to lock the door.
He was leaning against his car, on his phone. When he heard me coming he looked up and I saw him look at me with awe but quickly recovered and smiled.
" Beautiful" he said.
I didn't know If I should kiss him or hug him and he seemed to be debating so he ended up just walking around and opening the passenger side of the car. I walked over, hiding my disappointment, and sat down. I strapped myself in and he got into the drivers side.

" This is where you live?" I asked.
I was standing outside of the car and Caleb was by my side. I was looking up at a huge house that I could see had a pool on the backyard. There was different color flowers leading up to the door and the house was brick.
He ran his hand through his hair and smiled.
" Yeah." he said.
I looked at him then back up at the house.
He laughed and took my hand, interlocking our fingers. I felt a shock but he didn't mention it so I didn't say anything.
" Come on. I want you to meet my parents." he said.
We walked up to the door and he opened it letting me in first but still holding my hand.
" Mom! Dad!" he yelled.
He looked at me sheepishly and I heard a voice call from somewhere in the house.
As he led me to them I adjusted my hair and he chuckled.
" You're perfect" he said.
I blushed and looked down.
I looked around the house and the family room was very open with a flat screen tv on the wall and several couches. We entered the kitchen and saw a man in his sweats that looked just like Caleb except his eyes were a plain brown just like mine. The lady had Caleb's eyes and was wearing a robe with slippers.
" I made eggs and bacon honey and-" she stopped short as she saw me and turned red.
She got up quickly and came over to me and his dad followed.
" Well I'm sorry! I didn't know he was bringing guest over. I'm Mrs. Morris and this is my husband Mr. Morris. But you can call us Jasmine and Frank." she said.
She embraced me in a hug which took me by surprise and I blushed.
" I'm Kenya. Nice to meet you" I said quietly with a shy smile.
His dad pulled out his hand and I shook it. He had a firm hand.
" Nice to meet you too. Aren't you just a small pretty thing?" he said.
I blushed really deep and Caleb groaned.
" Daaaad." he groaned.
I smiled.
" Thanks Mr. Morris or uh, Frank." he laughed at me.
" No problem." he said.
His mom turned around and I saw her pull out a plate.
" You hungry dear? I can make you a plate. Or do you want something to drink?" She asked.
" Oh no thank you. I just ate. Thanks though" I said, trying to make a good impression.
She turned to Caleb.
" How about you honey?" she asked him.
I saw him blush and I looked at how adorable he was.
" No mom. We're just gonna go upstairs." he said.
He took my hand again and began leading me out the kitchen.
" Let me know if you need anything!" she shouted.
" Thank you!" I shouted back.
We walked up stairs and entered the third door. He closed the door behind us and I looked around.
His room was huge! He had a king size bed, a futon, a tv, desk with a laptop, and radio. He had posters of bands I don't know and he had some clothes thrown across his bed and floor.
" Uh, sorry for the mess."
He quickly picked up everything and threw it into a corner.
I sat down on the corner of his bed and he sat down beside me and I smiled and looked down.
" How come you are always looking down?" he asked.
I blushed and looked at him.
" I'm just really shy." I said.
He smiled with amusement in his eyes.
" Really?" he asked.
I nodded and he smiled.
" And here you are sitting in a room with a guy that you just met" he said with a smirk.
I laughed, as I couldn't believe it either.
He smiled.
" So tell me everything about yourself." he said laying down.
I turned towards him and crossed my legs, making sure I rested my hands in between my legs so he couldn't see anything.
I began small. Telling him bout my grades and how I've always been shy. Then I started telling him about my mom and dad and about Sarah. I told him about my past and what I hope for in the future. After I finished, I blushed and laughed.
" Sorry. When I do talk I ramble."
He laughed.
" No. I enjoyed listening to you. How your eyes lit up when you talk about school. It's so hard to find that in people now." he said sitting up.
I blushed.
" Yeah I guess I'm just a nerd." I said.
" Hm. I don't think so. You are a beautiful smart girl who knows what she is doing" he said softly with that smile.
I looked down.
" Thanks." I said.
He lifted my chin with his finger so I looked into his eyes.
" Stop looking down. Don't be embarrassed." he whispered.
My breath caught as I looked in his eyes.
Right now his eyes were a really light gray with more brown than green specks. His eyes were smiling and I could see my reflection in them.
He leaned in and kissed me. It was perfect.
Soft and warm.
He put his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
He parted my lips slightly and ran his tongue over my lips at first then to me teeth. I ran my hands through his hair as his tongue found mine. He bit my bottom lip softly and I moaned quietly.
I blushed and I could feel his lips turn into a smile against mine.
" I'm sorry" I said, pulling away slightly.
" Don't apologize." he murmured and pulled me back to him. He lied me down slightly and lied ontop of me, making sure not to put his full weight on me.
He continued kissing me and I ran my hands through his hair, pulling him closer to me if possible.
He began kissing the corner of my mouth then my cheek then to my ear.
" Caleb" I whispered.
He kissed my forehead then rolled away.
I groaned and he laughed.
" You make it hard to stop" he whispered in my ear.
He played with my hair and I turned to him.
" Don't stop then." I whispered back.
I ran my hands over his chest.
" You aren't ready. We can wait." he said simply.
I looked at him and raised an eye brow.
" Not ready?" I asked.
He smiled and continued playing with my hair.
" We just started talking. I don't want you to feel as if we are rushing this. I want to take this slow. Take us slow" he said.
He looked into my eyes and turned red.
" Uh, I mean if you want to be an us. I mean, well,-" he stuttered but I cut him off by kissing him softly on the lips.
" Don't be stupid. Of course I want to be with you" I whispered in his ear.
He smiled.
" You know I've always seen you around school. But I was the jock and you were just some random chick. But I always thought you were beautiful" he said.
I smiled and rested my head against his chest.
" A jock?" I asked.
" Yeah. I was the guy everybody loved. And girls loved. I'm not going to try to hide the facts. I slept with lots of easy girls." he said.
I stayed silent.
" I'm not just another girl to screw am I?" I whispered.
He ran his fingers through my hair and laughed softly.
" Don't ever think your just another girl. Your special. I don't know how to explain it but when I first saw you. In the car." his voice broke and I looked up at him but his eyes were closed.
" You were unconscious and Sarah was screaming at you. Screaming your name. And I saw you. Your body looked so small and lifeless. You had a bump on your head. And a piece of-" he paused and I waited.
" A piece of metal sticking out of your leg from a piece of the car. There was blood dripping. I wanted to help you but I didnt know how. Sarah screamed at me. Told me she hated me. I couldn't blame her. I hated myself too." he opened his eyes and put one arm around my waist as he ran his other hand through his hair. He couldn't look me in the eye and I didn't force him to.
" Every time I close my eyes I see you in the car not responding to the screaming around you. And I cared about you. Even though I didn't know you I felt so much for you. I don't know why."
He looked down at me with unshed tears and his eyes went down to my leg.
He softly pulled my dress up a little and ran his finger lightly over my scar.
" And now you live with damage. Permanent damage. Your concussion and this scar" he said, a tear rolling down his face.
I quickly wiped away his tear and pulled my dress back down.
" Don't hate yourself. I'm fine. I'm here now and that's all that matters."
He sat up so quick that I jumped. He looked at me with sadness but mostly anger.
" You don't understand! I thought you were gone. You could have died! You could have never came back and it would have been my fault." he yelled.
I flinched.
" You could have been gone" he croaked.
Tears flowed down his face and I hugged him tightly and didn't let go.
He squeezed me really tight and it was hard to breath but I let him hold me.
And I held him.
