Recap: I wanted to meet her gaze, but she shrugged and continues her conversation with the other noisy girl. Maybe this wasn't a bad idea to come back to town.
Mia POV
We left the food court. Lilly waked by the pet shop and stared at the cute puppies in the window. I stared at them as well and thought how cute they were. I shook my head after a wile and dragged Lilly away to the parking lot. We gotten into my beat up cruiser and drove off to the condos, where we lived. We went up to Lilly's place to talk more and to hang out.
"So what did your boyfriend look like?" I finally asked again, since she didn't answer the first time.
"In all honest truth, he looks like he stepped out of a vampire movie." She says a little shyly, probably because she still has feelings for him.
"So he's Goth, right?" I ask, just to make sure
"Yeah, he is, in all sense of the word." Lilly says sighing softly.
"Why do you want me to hook up with him?" I ask curiously.
"He could learn something from you, instead of me bickering all the time for him to miss something important." She says sighing again.
"Oh I see so you want me to reintroduce you guys back together?"
"Hey how did you know what I was thinking?"
"I'm just that good. Remember I am a writer and I did have characters do that before."
"Wow you must be really smart or lucky." Lilly says with a fond look on her face.
"No I'm just a good people watcher. What I see is what I write about."
"How many books do you have out?"
"Three. One is a romantic, comedy, mystery, two is like a horror novel and my third is still circulating." I say trying to think.
"What is your third book about?"
"A hidden tale of my life."
"Wow like a biography."
"Autobiography."
"Oh, sorry."
"No, don't be, everyone makes mistakes."
"I'll read that one when it comes out."
"So you can find out my hidden secrets?"
"Yes! I want to learn all about you."
"If it does come out so I can sell, but I need to make another if this one doesn't."
"So, you're looking for the right inspiration."
"Yeah, I told you that the other day."
"I can't wait to hear what your inspiration is." She says excitedly.
As we were talking, the phone rang and Lily went to pick it up. I decided to snoop around and found some pictures and seen that it was 3:00 in the afternoon. She was right, her ex boyfriend did look like he stepped out of a vampire movie. He was good looking though, she was lucky to at least have a boyfriend.
I continued to look for more pictures but I couldn't find any. I go into her kitchen to grab a snack and just got some carrots and ranch dressing. When Lily came back into her living room, she also munched on what I got.
"I can't believe that jerk!" Lilly says in an angry tone.
"Who are you talking about?" I ask between snacking.
"This guy downstairs is really good looking, but I don't like his sense of talk. He is also still in high school."
"Is that what the phone call was all about?"
"No! It was that he wanted to invite me down to help him with his homework, since no one else would help him."
"Let's go, it's better than to sit here and do nothing."
"You're right." She says agreeing, though I am sure she wasn't looking forward to it.
So we headed for the kid's condo. Lilly said his name is Cory and he is a smooth talker. She said to watch my back due to his way of talking. We arrived and Lily just kicked the door instead of knocking.
"You trying to break his door down? That is pretty rude."
"No! I'm trying to relive some stress, besides he doesn't answer any other way."
"I see." It wall all I could say.
After a few moments Cory answered.
"Hey, Lily of the Valley." Greeted Cory as he opened the door to us.
"Hey, stuck up, nerd, junkie." Said Lilly who tapped her foot impatiently.
"Greetings from outer space." I said trying to get some situation relief.
"What?" both Cory and Lilly said together.
"Sorry you were spewing insults and complements I had to say something creative." I said trying to keep the situation from getting too hostile.
"Ok," they both said again in unison.
I was just observing the two and I think I have a new inspiration for my next book. I quickly make a note of it.
"Say Lily can you introduce me to you foxy friend?" Cory says trying to be smooth towards me, though I decide to play with him instead.
"I'm no vixen Cory, I'm a wolf."
"Ooo, scary help me Lily."
"Oh shut up Cory and act like a man." Says Lilly as she crosses her arms.
"Sorry sweetheart but I'm a lover not a fighter."
"Right and I am a shaker not a mover."
"Nicely played Lilly."
"Thank you Mia, I'm here on Fridays. I was also telling the truth."
"Anyway can you lovely ladies please help me with my homework? PLEASE!" Says Cory, pleading with them.
"Stop whining Cory and show it to me." Lilly says as she moves through the door. I follow her in and smile as I shake my head.
"Ok."
He got his homework out and we helped him with math. I am very good with math so Lily left it to me, while she made some more snacks. She made some light sandwiches and some punch. It took Cory a while to get the hang of learning the formulas but he eventually got it. It was around 7:00 when we got done and I seen that Cory finally gotten all the answers right.
"Oh dear it's that late already?" Lilly says as she looks at her wrist watch.
"You're right, man time does sure fly." Cory says as he packs up his homework.
"Well, I'll see you next week sometime ok?" I say to Lilly as I hug her.
"Ok Mia."
So I left the condos and walked the few miles back to my apartment. I like walking, it helps clear my head when I'm stressed. I saw a shadow lurking in the alleyway, I thought it was my imagination. It was human because I could see a cigarette light. I just then ran up to my house and shut and locked the door, hoping that that person didn't see me.
