Hiccup

The troll didn't explain in detail what to do once I was on the island. Its only note was to only go with Toothless.

Eclypse Island was silent; I could hear only the peaceful, silent slips of waves and the wind traveling through the forest.

I was lost in thought. Apparently, the fate of the world rested in our hands. The elder troll seemed to be very serious when I was listening to him. Even while I was at the island I was still tormented by the message. The thing I was most anxious about was seeing my friends again.

Unaware, Toothless fled into the forest. He often does this, mysteriously pursuing unknown things.

"Toothless, wait!", but it was too late, his dark black hide had blended into the forest shade, making him  undetectable. I had to follow him. Without me, he could be running into danger; I have to be there to guide him.

Toothless has excellent stealth in the wild. He uses his pitch black scales to make him perfectly blend in with darkness, making him almost invisible and almost impossible to detect. And, despite his large body, he can somehow lightly pounce through the forest, making as much sound as just a little rustle.

I could barely track him, let alone keep up with his fast pace. The only clues to his whereabouts were the little jitters in the leaves. It was like playing hide and seek with a little mouse.

He gave a sharp, quick roar in the distance. There! I quickly ran to the sound. He gave another roar, only this time, Toothless was wailing in pain. I sprinted as fast as I could.

The sound lead me to an opening. What I saw made my throat dry up instantly. There was a girl, with a sword in hand and dark red hair, with one foot on Toothless' head, blood rushing from his stomach.

The girl was Merrida, one of my childhood friends. She was smiling as she stood on the dragon.

"NO!", I screamed. She turned and said, "hey, Hiccup!", smiling even more. She came up to hug me, but I ignored her completely and passed her to run to Toothless. "Is that how you treat an old friend?"

***********

"I...I'm so sorry Hiccup. I haven't seen you since we were kids. I didn't know you trained a dragon."

     "That won't help us Merrida...

     Toothless is gone...
