Everyones eyes flicked from Casey to me. Finally Adam spoke." We knew this would happen eventually."
Now it was my turn to stare. He noticed my confusion and asked me to sit down.
" Mara there's something we have to tell you. You remember the news about the secret society forming?" I nodded. Where was this going?
"Good because we know them. We were sent here as spies and our mission was to get all the kids out of here. My cousin, Alex, is the leader of the society..."
I stopped listening after that. Did he just say Alex? My neighbour Alex? My best friend Alex? No no no. Alex wouldn't hide that from me. Maybe that's why he was trying to get me to believe in the society forming.
" Mara dont feel bad. He kept it a secret to protect you." Said Casey, as if reading my mind.
" Im not mad, just overwhelmed. This is honestly too much and I'm not even sure if I believe it."
" Well if you want to get out of this hellhole, this Society is the only way." Added Daniel.

That night we went over the plan on how to escape. Tomorrow, we would gather everybody. Turns out, Adam had a map of the building and knew how to get outside by crawling through the drains. We spent the whole night formulating a plan.
" So we get all the kids out?"
" We can't take them all. It'll draw too much attention."
" Well we can't just leave them here either."
Many arguments happened. In the end, we decided that each of us would get our siblings and leave. Lucky for us, tomorrow there would be an assembly and all the children would be in the same hall. There, I would get Abby. We were just about to head back to our rooms when someone knocked on the drain. I opened it and saw Paul crawl through.
" I just heard my father talking about his plan. I want to help you guys." He said, sadness filling his eyes. So, we told him the plan. He said that he could disable the security cameras as well as lock our rooms from the inside so no one could get in. We headed back to our rooms. Just as Casey and I were about to separate, she slipped something into my hand. It was a gun. My hand curled around the barrel and I looked up at her.
" Keep it with you at all times. Only use it when you need to." was all she said before leaving. I slipped it into my jacket, feeling the cool metal against my skin. I entered my room and pushed the drain under the bed. Tomorrow, we would leave. Tomorrow we would escape and be free.

I was woken up by the jarring sound of the alarm. I got changed as adrenaline rushed through my veins. I was excited, no, nervous. Michelle entered my room and escorted me to breakfast. I sat with my usual friends but none of us spoke much. Some smiled some looked satisfied and we all knew why. My first lesson was puzzles again. I entered the familiar classroom and sat in the same place beside Tiffany. TIFFANY! Could we actually leave her behind. I turned around and made eye contact with Casey. I nodded towards Tiffany and Casey nodded, understanding. She and Alex buzzed for a while before Casey gave me a thumbs up. So I guess Tiffany would be coming with us. The teacher gave us our first assignment.
" Hey Tiffany, I need to talk to you for a second."
"Mmhmm". That's weird. She actually told me to go on.
" Hey Tiff, everything alright?"
" No." She told me what she had overheard. Turns out she heard the same thing i'd heard from the bathroom as well. So, I told her our plan.
"Hey Martha, why are you being nice to me? I've always been a bitch to you.". Honestly I didn't know why so I just shrugged. We completed our assignment and headed to the assembly. I searched the hall for Abby and found her sitting alone in the back row.
" Hey Abbs."
" MARA!" She hugged me tight. I hadn't seen her in so long that I was worried she'd forgotten about me.
" Settle down children! Quiet now." A lady spoke in the microphone.
" Abby I need to tell you something very important.". She nodded for me to continue.
" We need to get out of here." I made sure my voice was very quiet " We need to escape.". She looked confused so I explained further. At the end, she looked a bit scared.
" Are they gonna kill us?"
" I don't know. But we still gotta go.". The assembly soon ended and we went for our next classes. I had math again. Yay(note the sarcasm). During my lesson, I paid no attention to the teacher. I was too caught up in the plan. The teacher didn't seem to notice and continued on, her droning voice going in one ear, and coming out the other.

Before I knew it, it was night. In just a few hours, the plan would start. Our little group was gathered in the meeting room. Daniel and Tom were in charge of getting the kids, Casey and Adam were going over the maps, Paul, Olivia and Jess were disabling the security cameras and Ellie,Ivy and I were keeping watch. One by one, the kids came in. Soon, we had a group of about 20 children.
" Disabled" Said Paul, looking up from his computer. He'd stolen it from the security room.
" Time to go." Announced Casey. We all went over the maps one last time. Everyone knew where to go and what to do. It was happening, It was really happening. We were getting out of here once and for all.
