Chapter 3

I was woken up by the chirping of birds. I realized that I had fallen asleep on top of Alex. My head was on his chest and our legs were tangled together. We were holding hands so tightly, as if someone was about to pull one of us away. Which in my case was actually going to happen. I got up and looked at the boy sleeping in front of me. His hair was messy but it made him look like when he was a kid. I ran my fingers through his hair and whispered in his ear.

" Wake up sleepyhead"

He shifted for a while before finally opening his eyes. He looked at me tiredly and smiled.

" Morning M."

" Morning."

I realized that today was the day. The day I left it all behind. My family, Alex, home. Everything.

" I'm gonna miss you." Said Alex, as if he was reading my thoughts. I gave him a sad smile.

" I'm gonna miss you too."

Our faces were just inches apart. Was he going to kiss me? No no Mara. Why would he like you like that. You're just his friend. He has other friends as well. Girls who are prettier than you. Thoughts raced through my head. He began to lean towards me.

" BOO!"

Both Alex and I screamed. I turned around only to see Alex's little brother, Edward standing there.

" Eddy! You scared the crap outta us. When did you get back from the hospital?" Said Alex. Edward had banged his head on the table and fainted a few days before. His parents had brought him to the hospital and now he was back and looked healthy.

" Alex if you're done kissing your girlfriend then go to mum. Shes calling you." Said Edward with a grin. Both Alex and I flushed red and I felt heat rising up to my cheeks.

" Eddy she's not my girlfriend....." said Alex awkwardly. We stood up and I went home. I saw a giant limousine parked outside our house. They were here. I went in and found two giant men sitting on our couch. They both wore black suits and looked like bodyguards. Upon seeing me enter, they stood up and the tall, bald one shook my hand.

" Good morning Miss. We've come to escort you to the headquarters. Your bags are in the car." he said. I gave him a fake smile.

" Let me just grab something from my room really quick." I replied. He nodded in response. I ran up to my room and ransacked my drawers before I found what I was looking for. It was an emergency dagger. Alex had given it to me a few months ago when there was news of rape going on in our city. How Alex had got it, I had no idea. I slipped the dagger into the back of my belt and felt the cold metal against my body. I grabbed a small bag and stuffed things like my phone and wallet in it. I slipped on my watch and took one last glance at our house before walking out the door. I went outside and found that my parents and Alex's family were outside. I hugged my parents first then Alex's. I gave Edward a small hug and ruffled his hair before turning to Alex and giving him a giant hug. He hugged back just as tightly.

" Edward's going too. Promise me you'll take care of him? Please." He said sadly. I was shocked since I didnt know Eddy was chosen too. He just seemed so happy earlier.

" I promise" my voice came out like a whisper.

" Goodbye M."

" Goodbye Alex."

Abby, Edward and I got into the limousine. I took one last look at the life I was leaving behind. I waved to them until they were just specks in the distance.

Okay I know the chapter was short, IM SORRY! It was really just a filler chapter since I wanted to start a new chapter for when they arrived at the headquarters. Till next time.
