Joey

My adrenaline instantly spiked and I puffed out my chest, scowling at Clark.

"So you been lookin for me, bald fuck?" I snarled, balling my hands into fists. It was time to kick some ass.

Daniel stared at us in shock and I could see the bare fear in his eyes, but this was no time for fear. This is survival.

Clark advanced towards me. The handcuffs jangled in his hands and I stood my ground, waiting and ready.
As soon as he was within arms reach, I kicked him hard in the groin and he fell to his knees, groaning in pain. I was about to kick him again but Clark grabbed my leg and yanked it forward.

I stumbled, hitting my knee against the hard floor and regaining balance in a split second. I swung my fist in his face, connecting with his sharp bony nose and making his head to swing back. Blood spurted out of his nose and I punched him again, this time with more strength.

Clark cursed and gripped his nose. I let my fist fall to my side because it stung from the impact. Clark instantly stood up and shoved me against the wall, pinning me and smashing his fist in my gut. I tried to get out of the lock but his grip was strong. He punched me in the stomach again and I spat in his face.

"You little coward!" He swore.
I whipped my head forward and banged it hard against his forehead, bringing excruciating pain that rattled my brain. Clark must've felt the painful impact because he let go of me and dropped to the floor in a heap.

"Fuckkkkk," I winced, my head in my hands. My head hurt like hell and I kicked Clark in the ribs.
"Old bastard."

Daniel ran to the bedroom and came back a moment later with our wallets and his phone.

"We need to get out of here. The other cops will be here soon!" He said frantically, grabbing my wrist.

We ran out of the motel and jumped in my car. I shoved the key in the ignition but it wouldn't start. The engine made a hard deflating sound.

"Are you fucking kidding me!" I yelled as I hit the steering wheel.

"Keep trying Joey," Daniel said worriedly, looking out the window. I twisted the key again and within 2 minutes it finally started. We shrieked in success and I slammed on the accelerator, roaring out of the parking lot.

The exit to the high way wasn't too far away from here and I drove in that direction. I zoomed down the streets, running lights and honking at cars that were in my way. We were almost out of town when sirens rang in the distance and Daniel absolutely freaked out. "They're coming, they're coming!"
He screeched, turning around to look out the back window.

I ignored him and tried to stay calm despite the circumstances. I pressed on the gas pedal, going even faster but the sirens didn't disappear. If anything they got closer and in moments I could see 3 police cars in the rearview mirror.

"We're so dead," Daniel wheezed. We were driving on a high bridge now and I could see the ocean surrounding us. When we were almost off the bridge, I slammed on the brakes.

"What are you doing?!" Daniel asked.

I didn't reply. Instead I jumped out of the car and headed towards the bridge.

Daniel

I followed Joey outside and watched as he began climbing up the metal railing. My heart instantly leaped and fear twisted my lungs.

"Are you gonna jump? Because that's fucking crazy!" I yelled.

I grabbed his leg in attempt to stop him but Joey kicked me off, making me fall on my ass. I looked at him in a mixture of shock and confusion, unable to say a single word.

My chest tightened as Joey stood on the ledge, looking back at me with
tears in his eyes.

"This is the only way out."
