"Y'all still not talking?" Jasmine asked smacking in my ear as she talked to me, I felt my nerves begin to itch as I watched Quay strut right past me with Key on his arm and a ball in the other.
"No." I said bluntly as I slammed my locker door.
"Girl, it's a new boy here and he fine as hell, I swear he make me wanna have a pileupssyyyyy." She laughed and I shook my head at her walking to class.
"You think everybody fine." I said looking over my shoulder at her.
"And?" She said scrunching her face up at me while smacking on her gum and popping a bubble.
"Ugh stop smacking that gum." I groaned.
"Nah." I rolled my eyes and walked into the classroom, I looked at my seat and noticed a boy in my seat, I approached the desk he looked at me.
"Hi, you're in my seat."
"That's so high school movie of you." He said with a smug smirk on his face.
"No, you're honestly in my seat."
"Welp."
I looked at him annoyed. "Welp move duh."
"Find a new seat."
"Listen, I don't know who you are, but this is my seat and I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd move." I said irritably , he laughed and smiled showing his pearly white teeth and stood up.
"All yours ma." He said moving to the seat behind mines, I rolled my eyes and sat down pulling out my notebook, he tapped my shoulder and I turned to face him.
"Yes?"
"Mani." He said reaching his hand out, I looked at it and shook his hand.
"Arnani."
"We meant to be friends then, matching names and shit." He laughed and I scoffed turning around in my seat.
I looked up at Quay as he walked into the classroom and I turned back around talking to Mani.
"Well, I suppose you're right." I said smirking.
"I know I am." He said winking at me. I laughed and looked over at Quay as he turned away shaking his head, the bell rung and class began.
I walked down the steps of the school as the final bell rung and everyone rushed home, a hand pulled at my hand and I turned around coming face to face with Quay.
"What Quay?" I spat at him irritability.
"We needa' talk, come on." He said walking in front of me and started in the direction of my house.
"I can't." I mumbled following him, I just really didn't want to talk to him, he turned and looked at me rolling his eyes and kept walking, I huffed and followed behind him watching him walk the whole time without either of us saying a word to one another. We finally reached the gate and he punched in the code waiting for me by the open gate, I walked past him looking at him shaking my head.
"You just don't give up, do you?"
"Nah, come on." We made our way up the big hill as clouds begin to settle in the sky and a flash of thunder rumbled over us.
"Looks like rain."
"Looks like it." I responded as we looked up at the darkening sky and walked up to the huge multistory home that towered over us as lightning flashed behind it.
I opened the front door looking around the dark home as the black drapes covered the windows. I sighed and took off my shoes following Quay up the spiral staircase and into my bedroom, I closed the door behind me and sat on the bed."Who was that guy in first hour?" He spoke looking at my wall full of pictures of us. I simply shrugged and looked at my phone.
"No response?" He said with his back turned to me, I shrugged again knowing he couldn't see me and began texting, he turned and looked at me.
"Arnani."
"Quay."
"Stop."
"Stop what?"
"Ugh, you annoy me." He balled up his fist and turned away, I covered my mouth laughing quietly to myself.
"You think it's funny." He turned looking at me with a glare, I busted out laughing as I saw the corners of his lips quiver and he started to laugh too.
"You think you all buff." I started dying laughing holding my stomach as he sat next to me and mushed my head.
"Shut up." I wiped my tear starting to quiet down and giggled.
"Whew, that was funny."
"No it wasn't, I'm so serious Nan, why was y'all flirting?"
"We weren't." I shrugged he side eyed me and shook his head.
"Yeah, ight miss. giggles." He said mocking a girly high pitched laugh, I punched his arm and glared at him.
"I don't laugh like that dick head." I said pushing him away while he laughed blocking his face from my hits. I pouted and crossed my arms turning away.
"You're ugly."
"Nah." He said rubbing the forming goatee on his chin, I had just noticed, he must've grew it over the course of us not talking. He looked over at me noticing I had been observing him. We stared at each other and I looked into his eyes becoming trapped, the good kind of trapped like when you never want to be untrapped, I looked away and he grabbed my chin lifting my head back up and looked into my eyes.
"I can't let you go Arnani." He said softly searching my eyes for a response, knowing my mouth wouldn't generate the response he hoped for, I opened my mouth to say something then closed it again lost in what I wanted to say.
He pulled me closer and I could taste the faint hence of mint as our tongues mangled and roamed in each other's mouths as his hands roamed down to my sides and he caressed my body, our body heat roamed off each other as the long past due kiss blew into full affect. We kissed as if, as if we wanted to become one, our tongues told each other 'I love you, I need you, I want you, take me.' That kiss was everything I needed.
