Beginnings are hard.  Beginnings are unexpected.  But, so are endings.  I wonder how my mother, and brother felt.  I wasnt there to protect them.  My eyes closed as the first tears leaked out.  I couldnt hold them in, I couldnt be strong.  Not anymore.  Darian tighted his arm around me, Leigh and Loren flanked us, all of them.  They were protecting me, they were my family now.  I looked up at the two funeral piers and felt my knees grow weak.

Stay strong child, stay strong. I almost gasped at the voice that filled my head.  It was stong, womanly, and protective.  I looked around then looked back down at my feet.  I stood up with everyone else and followed them to the grave yard.  As they laid the coffins into the ground, a memory stirred inside of me.  It was my mother singing a song.  A sad song.  The one my mother sang after my father left us.  I began to hum it.  Then I sang.

"I've been looking in the mirror for so long.  That I've come to believe my soul's on the other side.  All the little pieces falling, shatter.  Shards of me, Too sharp to put back together.  Too small to matter, But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces. If I try to touch her, And I bleed, I bleed, And I breathe, I breathe no more."

My mind was a whirl of emotion as i sang the first verse.  But I continued, thinking it was only right to my mother and brother i say goodbye.

"Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirits well.  Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child.  Lie to me, Convince me that I've been sick forever.  And all of this, Will make sense when I get better.  But I know the difference, Between myself and my reflection.  I just can't help but to wonder, Which of us do you love.  So I bleed, I bleed, And I breathe, I breathe no...  Bleed, I bleed, And I breathe, I breathe, I breathe- I breathe no more."

As the song ended, i realized everyone had gone silent.  Watching me, quietly.  I looked away from them all and meet Darian's eyes.  They were watering and looked far away.  His arms were around me in an instant and he buried his face into my hair.
