I frowned when I walked into the library the next morning and didn't see Bailey. "What the fuck?" I asked. I pulled out my phone and called her, glad that she was persistent in trying to send me messages. I was pissed to see that she wasn't here, even though she was supposed to be "helping" me with my homework and shit.
"What?" she answered groggily.
"Where are you?" I asked. "I thought nerds were always in the library."
"Some are," she replied. "Look, I am not going to school today."
I was a bit shocked to hear that she wasn't going to school. From what I had gathered, even though I don't normally pay attention to Bailey that much, she never missed a school day. "And why not? I thought you wanted to get into "Juilliard."" I had no idea what school that was, and I could care less.
"I can miss days and still get into Juilliard," she replied.
"But, you do not have a life." I internally wince as I felt her anger through the phone.
"No life?" she seethed. "No Life!" she yelled. "What the fuck do you mean by "no life"? Do you want to know what no life is? No life is waking up three in the morning because one of your friend's kids starting to cry about a nightmare. No life is working four or five jobs to make sure that you have a place to live. No life is making sure that your friend does not overdose. No life? Ya, I guess I do not have a life. I will not be there for the rest of the week. I have stuff to do with my "no life." Work some on the project, and I will work on some projects when I have the time. Goodbye, Blake." With that, she hung up the phone.
I frowned and looked at the phone. I didn't try to call her back, because I was sure that she wouldn't answer. I was curious about what she meant, and I couldn't help but feel guilty. What I had said was uncalled for, and I knew that I should apologize.
I didn't know where she lived, but I knew of someone that could help me find her. Let's hope that he'll help finding a nerd.

"So, you know where we are going?" I asked Trevor, getting into his car. I frowned when I saw how tense he look and couldn't help but wonder what had got under his skin. He had been acting this way all day, and sometimes he would glare at me for no reason.
"Yes, I know where we are going," he said coldly. He pulled his car into drive and started to drive towards wherever she lived. His whole body was tense, and I had no idea what his problem was.
"What's your problem?" I asked.
Trevor slammed his hand against the steering wheel. "You. You are my fucking problem," he seethed. "You need to learn how to keep your mouth shut if you do not have anything nice to say." He turned to look at me and glared. His lip twitched, and I could tell that he was angry. "I know what happened."
"How do you know Bailey?" I asked. I was shocked and afraid because I had never seen him this angry before. He had been pissed some around me, but it was never directed at me.
Trevor huffed and closed his eyes before opening them and focusing on the road. "She is someone I've known my whole life, longer than you," he replied. "My mom and her dad were best friends, while my dad and her mom were best friends, also. They were married at the same time, and we both were born the same day, twelve hours apart."
"Were?"
"Her parents are dead, Blake. I know that you think you have a shitty life but think about Bailey and me. Both of us have lost our parents. She lost both. Here she is acting like a nerd and a loner to keep herself safe."
"Safe? From what?"
Trevor shrugged. "How should I know? She doesn't either. It's one of the reasons why she moved out of my house when she was fifteen." He moved a hand through his hair and huffed. "I can't tell you all about it. She has to be the one that tells you." He pulled into an apartment complex and turned to look at me. "If you hurt her, I will hurt you. That girl has been through some shit, more than you."
I stayed silent and got out of the car. I was curious about why he had said that she had been through more shit than me, and I knew that I was about to find out. I just hoped that she would be able to tell me what was going on.
