I started to eat the food that Bailey placed in front of me, feeling very hungry, even though my head and stomach still hurt. "You know, I wouldn't mind giving you a kiss anyway, Bay," I said while I flashed her a small wink. "Why don't you come over here so that I can give you one?"
Bailey's cheeks grew redder, and she cleared her throat and shifted in her seat. She didn't say a word while she looked at me and then looked at her children, her cheeks turning a darker shade of red.
"Well, go ahead and do it," Mimi said while she looked at Bailey and gestured toward me. She grinned while she stared at her with wide eyes. "Kiss him, Bailey. He said that you could."
"Later," she said and shook her head, and I couldn't help but pout while she looked at me again. She scowled teasingly and narrowed her eyes, her lips curling up in a small smile. "Why are you looking at me like that, Blake?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
"Because I would like one now," I said before I took a bite of my food. I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat while I pouted. "Please?"
She hesitated before she shook her head before she looked away from me. "No," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I would like my first kiss to be... special, ya know?" she asked and raised the eyebrow in question higher than before while she looked at me. "I mean... it'd be my first kiss, and... ya."
Clank! Clatter!
I dropped my fork in shock while I stared at her, my cheeks turning red. My heart skipped a beat before it started to pound hard and fast, even though I couldn't help but feel slightly guilty.
"Blake?" she asked and furrowed her brows in confusion while she stared at me, cocking her head to the side with a small frown on her face. "What's wrong? What is it? Are you ok?"
My cheeks grew redder, and I instantly nodded. "I am," I said before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. "I didn't realize that this would be your first time kissing someone... I just thought you would have kissed someone by now."
She scoffed a laugh and rolled her eyes. "Why?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me. "I mean, why would someone want to kiss me besides the fact that I am a girl?"
I hesitated before I shrugged and picked up my fork again. "I don't know because you are amazing?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question before I started to eat again. "And you are beautiful inside and out."
Her cheeks turned redder, and she cleared her throat and shifted in her seat. "Oh..." she said before she cleared her throat again. She looked at the children and gestured for them to go since they were just standing around, watching this conversation between the two of us. "Go ahead and go do something but stay in the house for now," she said. "We'll finish unpacking later."
"And I will clean up my car," I said and wrinkled my nose in disgust while Bailey looked at me smirked. I looked at Trevor. "I'm sorry for throwing up all over you," I said and rubbed the back of my neck, sheepishly. "Can you forgive me?"
Trevor waved my apology off, biting back a small snort. "I am sure you would have helped me out, too, if we were in different positions, Blake," he said. "Don't worry about it. I am not helping you clean your car, though," he added with a shake of my head.
I shook my head. "I wouldn't expect you to," I said and shifted in my seat some more while I continued to eat what I could, even though a part of me wasn't so sure it would stay down.
The children left and went to the basement to do stuff after they cleaned up their plates and stuff, leaving Bailey, Trevor, and I behind. They were chatting and laughing about something, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was to deal with me or Bailey or what was going to happen between us.
"Do you think you can eat everything?" Bailey asked when they had left, and a look of concern appeared on her face while she watched me start to play with my food. "I can put it up for you so that you can eat it later if that's what you want."
I shook my head, pressing my lips into a thin line. "I'm going to have to eat the rest of this, Bay," I said, "so why don't I just continue to eat this?"
"But you are still feeling like you are about to throw up, right?" she asked and narrowed her eyes while she scowled. "Do not lie to me, Blake," she warned when I opened my mouth to protest. "Do you feel like you are going to throw up?"
I closed my mouth, and my cheeks turned redder. I didn't say a word and shook my head while I played with my food again.
She chuckled and shook her head, clearing her throat and growing serious. "You don't need to eat everything just yet, Blake," she said. "You should just eat a bit, and let your stomach rest. It won't upset me at all if that is what you are worried about."
I scoffed a laugh and rolled my eyes while I scowled, trying but failing to ignore the guilt that I was feeling. "I am not worried about that," I said, and she raised an eyebrow in question. "I don't care if you are upset about that or not."
Both Bailey and Trevor looked at each other before they looked at me with the same look on their face. They didn't say a word while they looked at me, and I could tell that they did not believe me at all.
I bit back a small sigh and moved a hand through my hair and across my face before I pushed the plate out of my way after I placed my fork on the plate. "Ya..." I said and cleared my throat while I shifted in my seat. "I am going to have to stop eating. I am sorry, Bay."
She chuckled and shook her head while she stood and walked over to me. "Don't be," she said. "Go ahead and finish your water, though. We don't need you super dehydrated while you clean your car."
I bit back a small sigh and slowly nodded. "Do you have anything that I can use to clean my car? I c-" I stopped talking when she raised her hand to silence me.
"I have stuff in a bucket by the front door for you," she said. "Trevor placed your keys in the bowl by the front door, too."
I breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded, feeling very grateful about having someone like her. "D-"
"Shush," she said, interrupting me with a shake of her head, biting back a small smile. "I don't need any compensation from you, Blake," she said. "I am happy to help you, and I'll make sure that Sky stays safe while you clean your car."
She stopped beside me and reached for my plate, but she couldn't get it while I grabbed both of her hands and pulled her closer to me, and I could feel her heartbeat quicken through her skin, and she stared at me with wide eyes.
I pulled her to me and placed a quick kiss to her cheek, deciding that if there was a first kiss between the two of us, then it would be somewhere special and doing something special as long as she was ok with it.
"Thank you, Bay," I said and let go of her hands, giving her a small smile when she stared at me with wide eyes and an open mouth, her cheeks red. "I do appreciate it and everything you have done for me and my sister. I don't know what I would have done if you had never ended up in my life and given me something stable to love. Thank you."
And with that, I stood and left the room to get the stuff done, my heart pounding hard and fast in my chest, praying that I didn't make a mistake in kissing her cheek like that and hoping that one day it wouldn't just be her cheek that I could kiss.
But I will wait until the time was right before I do that...
