Chapter 6: Save...the world

A splitting headache. That's exactly what you had. As you sat up slowly your eye's still squeezed shut from the pain. You went overboard with your powers, you already realized that.

Gosh Maui gonna chew you out for doing this and you'll probably never hear the end of this. You finally felt your head clearing up and you cracked your eye's open. You groaned as the light seized your vision and then, there was a gasp before a shout (y/n)!" Maui.

You felt his arm's wrap around you not as tight as before so not to hurt any damaged area that you didn't no of either that or he's just being extra careful with you.

You narrowed your eye's slightly as your eye's began to adjust to the blinding morning light, you looked up at the worried face of Maui "How long was I out?" You asked him you were surprised that your voice came out stressed and cracked.

Maui only held you close and smirked down at you slightly although it looked strained "A while" he answered.

You noticed dark circles under his eye's and that was surprising since you knew to Maui looks were nearly everything to him "What happened? Did I fix it?" You didn't need to go into details to know that Maui knew exactly what you meant.

Maui nodded "Yea you did".

Then, his grip tightened slightly and his eye's narrowed down at you clearly upset "I thought I told you not to stress your abilities like that. You can't keep doing that. Your powers are limited and you know that" Maui exclaimed.

You looked down slightly in guilt "I'm sorry I know." You however looked back up at him "but, you know how much I care about these land's, I could never turn my back on them before" you said to him.

Maui looked away from he you clearly still upset with you "Then, start now" he demanded.

Your eye's widened at that as a frown came to your lips "Maui...".

You paused once someone burst into the hut unannounced and you looked up to see it was the Village Chief.

The village chief bowed slightly "Forgive my intrude." Maui and you didn't speak but, Maui nodded his eye's never finding your own.

The village chief rose his expression distraught "There has been mass...distress not just from our main land but, from the other villages as well. We fear that our land's are becoming tainted with the spirit of Kanaloa" he stated his voice darkening.

Maui's grip on your sore body now tightened slightly and he nodded as he broke eye contact with the chief "What am i expected to do?" He asked.

You looked up at Maui in shock, when had we decided on this?
Moments ago, he had just told you to stop working so hard to save the land now, he wanted do it himself.

The village Chief looked at him thoughtfully "The core of our highlands are rumored to be...blockaded. That way the land and ocean aren't being given the proper life sustaining nutrients it needs to survive" he said and then with a slight pause and a sigh he continued "We believe that's where Kanaloa is trapping the spiritual energy of our land's and giving his own dark power instead. And destroying life as we know it" he stated his voice lowering sadly.

Maui's expression darkened and with a slight glance your way he nodded to the Chief and said "I'll set sail for the core this evening. I'll need many resources for my journey".

The chief nodded and went out as soon as the discussion was over you could hear him barking order's and people already scurrying all over the camp to fulfill them.

You looked at Maui raising a brow "I?" You asked him and he didn't seem fazed. "What happened to 'We' maui?" You asked him.

Maui looked at you finally as he let you go and stood slowly his eye's softened slightly "(y/n) you can hardly stand let alone walk. And you think I'm taking you with me to fight the god of magic and the underworld. Not likely" he said.

You glared up at him but, understood "I can too walk" you said and you began sitting up using the wall for balance. You were surprised that your legs felt more like seaweed then bone. But, you weren't going to give him the satisfaction.

You used the wall to support you as you stood on your sore legs and you put your hand on your hip while the other never left the wall. "See" you said a satisfied smile on your face.

Maui wasn't fooled and crossed his arm's "Walk over to me" he demanded.

Your smile faded and your eye's widened alittle "excuse me?"

Maui began to smirk "Walk over to me" he repeated.

You frowned at him and said "I really don't see how this..." he interrupted you.

"Walk over to me (y/n). If you can't do that then, I'll see you when i get back" he stated.

You growled at him angrily and then looked at the distance between you both, he was at least two yards away.

You looked down at your sore feet and sighed 'ok I got this.' You thought to yourself as you began to move your feet. Your left went first and you felt your right foot give in slightly until, you caught yourself.

You frowned and glanced at Maui who shook his head slightly but, kept water hung you his arm's still crossed. You then looked back down at your feet 'come on please work with me' you yelled mentally at your feet.

You moved once more and you got a step in. You smiled to yourself and suddenly felt like a child again learning to walk. You stepped toward Maui once more and your grip on the wall tightened as a sheer of pain went through your leg.

You hissed and that's when Maui cut in "(y/n) stop" he said.

You didn't look at him as you kept going "No no I can do this" you said as your leg went forwards again and you felt the pain once more.

"(Y/n) stop" he said more sternly.

"No. I can do this" you said glancing up at him to give him a glare before your eyes reddened and began pooling with tears.

He's not going to leave you behind, not again. You weren't helpless and you were going with him whether he needed you or not.

"(Y/n) your not going! So stop!" He shouted his arm's going to his sides as they balled up into fists.

Your head went up quickly as you were now two feet away from him "I'm going Maui whether you want me to or not! Your not leaving me behind again!" You yelled at him.

He looked at you in shock as tears ran down your face angrily and you finally came to stand directly in front of looking him straight in the eye "there. I walked to you and now..." you grabbed his larger hand in your smaller one "I'm walking with you" you said.

Maui looked down at you his expression softened and his hand relaxing before it entwined with your own "your so stubborn" he stated before he leaned down to take you off your feet with an embrace.

"I learn from the best" you whispered as your forehead met his.

He chuckled before he set you down on the bed and moved away "Get ready. I'll prepare the canoe" he said inching towards the door way.

You nodded and watched him set out of the hut and into the valley, you turned to your new outfit and sighed "time to save the world".
