He glared at me for quite some time. Not quite sure what to make of me. His rough ragged hair ruffled when he took a step toward me. The look I received was shock. It was as if no one had dared speak back to him like that. I refused to be spoken to with such contempt. He began shaking his head.
'I should have you executed for this' he said. I think I nearly doubled over in laughter, not taking what he said remotely seriously. 'You honestly think you should take someone's life just because they spoke to you in a manner that you disapproved of?' He wasn't sure what to say, he looked confused. 'You perplex me, what is your name?'
'My name is Zara, what's yours?' My answer agitated him, his face became distorted with anger and confusion. 'Why do you ask of my name when I'm the king of New England, are you fooling me? I don't enjoy games.' He growled in sheer frustration. 'Zara', he repeated in a dull monotoned voice then continued to look confused. 'I know I have a great name but saying it over three times is a bit obsessive don't you think?'
'Who in Gods name gave birth to a woman like you!'
'A woman like what?!' I fought back. I could've sworn I saw a faint smile but it could've been the light playing tricks on me. 'Woman should be seen, not heard. You frustrate me and I do not enjoy it.'
'What if I want to be heard?' I added, playfully.
Boy, this got him going.
He ran towards me and I dodged him by the skin of my teeth causing a tremendous thud. 'You bitch' he roared. 'That's no way to speak to a lady' I winked at him. He composed himself then proceeded to push me up against the wall. Jesus. What is it with these men and violence. I glared into his eyes and he stared into mine, trying to work me out. His eyes were beautiful, how could historians have said this man was ugly. His eyes were the glimmering colour of emerald, sparkling in the light of the morning sun like a fresh sheen of morning dew. I was mesmerised, but not foolish. He had/will win the hearts of many girls but not mine. Certainly not mine.
