(Aiden POV)
Worry was fresh on my mind. Lukas was on my mind. When we had found him, I swear I thought he was dead.
I mean, sure I hold grudges against him for leaving the group, but I still care about him, y'know?Without meaning to, Jesse and I had built our dirt shelter right next to a river. This was convenient for us, as we could easily slip out, fill up the water bucket, and get back inside before the zombies could get to us.
Ha. Stupid suckers. You think you can catch me? Think again. With my thoughts still on the zombies from outside, I didn't notice my sleeping companions at first.
When I did, I almost dropped the bucket in surprise.
...
I really want to pour the bucket over his head.I wasn't jealous, or anything, it's just the way... the way they look so perfect together.
Her head on his chest, his arms around her waist, both of them with small smiles painted on their faces, it was sickeningly sweet. The way they were both so... content.
Happy.
I can't remember the last time I was fully, truly happy. I'm not trying to sound like a wuss, it's just the truth.Struggling between waking them up, and letting them continue sleeping, I eventually let out a sigh, and lay down on the dirt, closing my eyes.
--------------------------------I could see nothing... yet I could feel something. The blackness surrounding me was... almost like a living blanket, swirling and moving around to an unfelt wind.
The dark surrounded me, coiling and wrapping, and twirling around me until-
I couldn't move.
I was trapped. Inside a cocoon like shape, completely immobile.
And the blanket was still moving, continuously tightening.
Then, it stopped. And about 10 or so meters away from me, a huge purple square, like an eye, opened up.
No.
You... you don't exist anymore.
Jesse destroyed you. You can't be here.I thought all this, as my voice was refusing to work. The eye, or the monster the eye belonged to, let out a low grumbling noise.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say it was laughing at me. Well I would, but I can't really say anything right now.The dark blanket squeezed ever tighter, and I was lifted off the ground. I finally found my voice when the Withers massive mouth appeared.
"L-let me go!" I struggled, but it was useless. I couldn't move at all.
"Oh, Aiden. I almost caught you and your little friends so many times," a low voice resonated inside my head, a mixture between a normal voice and a roar. "And now? I finally have you."I could do nothing, only watch as I was carried to the mouth of the monster.
I could see see inside the Wither's mouth now, swirling blacks and purples the only thing I could bare to look at. Not the tongue. Not the teeth. Not the breath that was continuously getting closer. Not the laughing sound in my head that would not shut up-----------------------
I woke up, panting, gasping, spinning round and looking for the monster. I placed a hand over my chest, heart beating erratically.
What the hell was that?
Sure, I'd had nightmares before, but none that... vivid.I glanced to his side to see the other two still sleeping. Still looking perfectly happy, I noted. If anything, their smiles had gotten larger.
'I bet they're having nice dreams' I thought bitterly. The small shelter held too many dark corners, shadows that reminded me of my dream, and the dream reminded me about the-
I stood up abruptly, shaking my head to clear away the thoughts of what had happened a few minuets before. I glanced at the door. I needed fresh air. If there were monsters out there, so be it.
I could take them on anyway.
As I pushed open the door, only being slightly careful to not slam the door on my way out, I took deep breaths, the claustrophobic feeling thankfully leaving me.
It was morning.
The sun had literally just begun to rise, zombies were already turning to dust, and those with some brains left in them (see what I did there) had taken shelter under the trees, where they would stay until the sun set again.I climbed onto the flat dirt of the roof of the shelter, and everything was calm. Apart from the occasional growl from a zombie, this was... nice.
I closed my eyes. And promptly opened them again.
Huh. Guess it'll take a bit longer till I can forget that nightmare.Eh, nothing a cookie can't fix!
...Or maybe three.------------------------
