(Jesse POV)

As far as I could tell, we were still underground. It was just hard to believe that fact, as I was led by guards with blank faces along ginormous corridors, the lack of windows being made up for ethereal glowing blocks I knew not the name of lining the ceiling.

Lavish paintings and abstract tapestries covered almost the entire wall on one side with a golden and indigo wallpaper hiding behind, while on the other wall hung countless portraits of finely dressed people. They varied in pose, some sitting, some standing... but they were always alone. Alone and blank faced. A royal family perhaps? My gaze rested on the seemingly newest portrait, the only one to have a crown atop his curly blonde head. I recognised to be the man who had asked me to dine with him...
I gulped nervously.

'Does this mean I'm going to be eating with a King?'

One thing confused me though. Before the newest painting there was a gap before the next one, almost as if one portrait had been taken away. Turning my head back down the stretching corridor, I could see that the same could also be said with the whole line. Throughout the paintings, every so often there would be a gap on the wall, leaving the gold patterned walls visible.

As we arrived at a set of double doors the guards paused, before stepping to their places at the sides of the doors. Before I stepped inside, I couldn't help but turn to marvel at the scene before me one last time, not sure when i would get to see such splendour again. I wondered, not for the first time, why this was so different from the tunnel I had been led through before. Everything about this place, every corridor we had turned, screamed money and wealth. So why had that place not looked the same? Before I could question it further, the doors pulled open without a sound.

"Foreign Leader?"

I spun round, snapping out of my daze.
"Hmm?"

One of the guards inclined his head towards the next room.

"The King shall see you now."

(Aiden POV)

I awoke, disoriented, to the sound of a door being unlocked. As I struggled to focus my gaze on the source of the noise I watched in stupor as a hidden panel slid open, to reveal a figure dressed in black. They blended into the shadowy hallway behind them so well that for a second I doubted if they was even there at all, or just a figment of my imagination.

My thoughts were confirmed when the shadowed figure noticed me and beckoned me over.

I attempted to stand, only for my legs to buckle underneath me, and I tumbled to the ground again. My vision was swaying, and my head hurt like hell. What was happening to me?
I felt arms hoisting me up, and a straining voice- male- spoke into my ear.

"Yup, they definitely drugged you- god you're heavy."

I raised a hand and tapped weakly at the strangers arm, as he helped me walk down the dark corridor, attempting to get free.

"Wait... my friend..."

The man in black swore under his breath, and dropped me without care. I landed on my arm, and I groaned as it twisted backwards. I squinted to see the stranger kneeling over Lukas, and tapping his shoulder in an attempt to wake him up.

Suddenly, another door opening could be heard. The hooded man leapt up and sprinted back to the corridor, closing the door behind him. Holding a torch in one hand, and dragging me behind him in the other, we made our way swiftly along the path, darkness all around.

I attempted to plant my feet, and failed. The drugs must still be having an effect on me.

"Wait, stop! What about my friend back there? We can't just leave him!"

"It's too late for him now." I found the man's calm tone to be extremely annoying. "He was too drugged to walk anyway, and I'm already helping you."

He stopped and flipped a switch I hadn't even noticed. Another invisible panel opened and he shoved me through into another dark room.

"Stay here. It won't be safe anywhere else."

The stranger went to close the door on me.

"Wait!" He stopped. "What... what did you mean?" I asked in confusion and slight fear.
"You said... it was too late for him?"

The man looked down.
"It's best you don't know." He half-whispered.

Then he was gone, and I was left in the dark.
