Damian woke up to the light in his room. Immediately, he tried to get up, but realized that Jason's arms were wrapped around him. He then remembered about his nightmares and how Jason had helped him. His face flushed red with embarrassment because he had let Jason see him in a weak state. Damian gracefully tried to get out of Jason's death grip. When he finally got out, he decided it would be nice to make breakfast. He had gotten basic cooking training from the league, just in case he was in a tight spot. He had also watched Alfred plenty of times.
Damian opened a random drawer and found pancake mix. He then followed all the instructions.
"Demon spawn?", questioned Jason, walking in.
"Good, your finally awake Todd. Since I was up before you, I took the liberty of making our meal," replied Damian.
"Soooo-you made pancakes?"
"Yes, in other words."
As they ate their breakfast, they were both quiet. Jason and Damian were thinking about what had happened last night. Damian knew he had to tell Jason what happened at one point, but was pushing it off, hoping that Jason wouldn't care.
Jason, on the other hand, was scared out of his mind. He saw the way Damian had looked the other night.
He never had seen his younger brother look so afraid, and so vulnerable. He wanted to ask Damian, but was afraid that Damian would push him away.
After they both ate, Jason took their plates and Damian sat on the couch.
Jason plopped on the other side.
"Sooo, demon, about last night...," said Jason.
"Can we both please forget about that. Crying is for the weak and helpless," replied Damian, cold and emotionless.
"Damn it demon spawn, I can't. I'm here for you, you have to tell me what happened."
"I don't want to Todd."
"You have to let me in."
"Ok-okay-" stuttered Damian.
"The day after you left, my mother arrived at the manor," explained Damian.
"She-she wanted me to join the League of Assassins again."
"Wait, demon, are you going back?" asked Jason.
"No. I told my mother that, but-but she ref-refused to take no for an answer," stuttered Damian. He was trying his best to be strong, but he wanted to burst into tears.
Crying is for the weak, Damian.
"Continue," said Jason.
"And-and then she called me stupid and told me I had to go back. But when I told her I wanted to stay, she said-said that I shou-should have nev-ver been born. And then she said that sh-she didn't lo-love me and she sla-slapped me," stuttered Damian. Then, he burst into sobs, he couldn't take it anymore. His own mother had said that she didn't love him. Damian curled into a ball to hide his tears.
"That bastard," muttered Jason.
"Can you-you leave me by my-myself?" sobbed Damian.
Jason got up and instead of leaving, he walked to Damian and sat down. He took Damian's hand and held it. Jason then wrapped Damian into a hug. Surprisingly, Damian didn't object. He cried and kept muttering," She doesn't love me."
After a couple of minute, Jason slowly cupped his hand on Damian's face and Damian turned to looked at him. When Jason saw Damian's tear-stained eyes, he looked deeper and saw a broken Damian.
"You know what, screw her."
"Wha-what?"
"You heard what I said, screw her," said Jason. "She is clearly an idiot for saying that she didn't love you. She doesn't deserve you as a son, demon. If she can't see how great you are, then she isn't worth it."
Damian looked at Jason and smiled. He couldn't think of anyone who had been so kind to him.
"Plus, you have plenty of people who love you right here, demon spawn."
"Than-thank you Todd."
