Everest is your classic king of the school. He makes every girl melt when they see him, he gets good grades, dates the most popular girl in school and plays the role of quarterback on his school football team. To everyone his life is perfect. Girls wanna date him and guys wanna be him. But to Everest, his life is a living hell but no one knows his internal battle until Everest acts.
And he commits suicide.
After failing his suicide attempt, Everest goes back to school and is seen as the school freak or known as " that one kid who tried to kill himself". His girlfriend breaks up with him, his friends betray him, he's kicked of the team, and isolated from everything he once knew. But a few days into his first week back at school Everest meets Beverly.
Beverly is one of the only black girls attending her school, which automatically separates her from the rest of the group. Seeing how hurt Everest looks one day she makes it her duty to help him.After several attempts to cheer him up, the two from a sort of bond, and Beverly helps Everest find a reason to keep living.
This is a story of love and heartbreak. It really teaches you just how much people who are hurting really just need a friend to reassure them. This book demonstrated the struggles and pressures of being ' popular' and the depression of being one of ' the freaks'
