Chapter 5

An hour later, we met back on the field. "Now, how are you two with weapons?"

"Well, I'm good with a sword." said Gavin

"I'm pretty good with a bow and arrow." answered Glenn.

"Good. How would you two like to join the royal knights?" I asked.

"We can't. We aren't nobles, we're just peasants." said Gavin.

"Well I'm changing the rules a bit now aren't I? We need more help in the army to defeat the Hikapie. Will you join or not?"

"Of course," they replied. "It would be an honor."

"Now, show me your skills."

I made a bear and a lion appear. Gavin took his sword and charged towards the lion, and meanwhile, Glenn took his bow and arrow off his back and began to shoot at the bear. After 3 minutes or so, both animals where vanquished. Lying on the ground, dead. "Well boys," I said. "Looks like you two just became knights."

As we left the field, Caleb ran over to me, I hadn't even noticed he was ever gone. "Hey Katherine, who are they?"

"This is Glenn and this is Gavin. I just made them knights of Lockeren. We needed more warriors correct? Well here are some. Gavin is handy with a sword and Glenn is great with a bow and arrow."

"Katherine, You know we shouldn't do that. Only nobles are suppose to become knights, they are only peasants."

I had finally burst a valve. I had enough, "Why on earth should anyone care if their nobles or not?!" I exploded, "last I checked this land was struggling to even stay alive! If we don't get more help the Hikapie will win this war and our county will be doomed! I don't gave a damn about the laws anymore! No one should! I this Valley is ever going to thrive again, we need more help! Nobles or not! If you don't trust these people then I'm going to prove you wrong! Glenn, and Gavin will guard my chambers tonight, and if I'm alive in the morning, then they are loyal to us. If I dead so what! Then this country will die anyways.!"

I stormed off with Gavin and Glenn following me leaving Caleb behind. I felt a little bad but it was true. Why should it matter what rank you are when this country is so close to extinction? I had enough of these stupid rules. Perhaps my family was conceited. They thought to highly of themselves. They thought they cloud win this war alone. Was I the only smart one in this kingdom? "I hope I haven't made a mistake. Please, don't kill me tonight. As knights you will have a home, and food. My life is kind of important to me so..."

"We won't kill you. We promise," said Gavin. "Especially since you've put so much trust in us."

"I'm depending on you" I replied.

We head towards the castle and when we finally arrived I equipped the two with the knights uniform. "Come now, I will be showing my parents what I have done. I hope they won't kill me..."

We headed towards the throne room and I opened the large door. "Why Katherine, you're back so soon. How was your journey?" my father asked

"Fine, I have two new warriors that I recruited."

"Oh thats fine send them in."

My hopes began to rise as I let the them into the throne room. When they entered the king smiled. "So you're my new knights? You both look strong. Who's family are you born from? Knox? Landcaster? Mullen?

"We aren't nobles sir. We are peasants and your daughter just recruited us. We are brothers and are part of Hale family. I am Glenn and this is Gavin."
