Chapter 6

We awoke with a start. “Ok everyone, split into the teams we agreed upon last night, meet back here in 5 days if possible. Everyone must be gathered remember who your after. Any questions?”

“So we meet back here? What if something happens? Than what should we do?”

“Well,if that happens contact me though this.”

I handed him a cellphone. Since my parents back on earth where rich, I for some reason had 2. “You hit these numbers,”

I handed him a scrap of paper with my number on it. “And only call if absolutely necessary, here, phone calls only work once.”

“What are these things?” Glenn asked.

“Back on earth there’re called cellphones. We use them to contact people. Wow, this place really needs an update on technology.”

“Ok so we just dial this number and then hit tho green button?”asked Glenn

“Yup thats pretty much it” I replied simply.

“Well I guess we should get going we only have so much time.”Caleb said.

“Ok good luck everyone” I said.

We split up and went to search for the others. “So, Gavin. Who do you want to search for first?”

“It’s up to you really.”

“How about we get my sister first, then we can find I portal close to where Amanda is.”

“Sounds good.”

We walked the barren terrain. We chatted about small things, then suddenly, a Hikapie jumped towards us and he looked ready for a kill. I push Gavin out of the way but I got the first blow on me. Blood gushed from my chest, and I screamed out, but continued to fight. Then Gavin threw me to the ground and attacked the Hikapie. Finnally he vanquished the beast and ran over to me. I could tell I was loosing to much blood. I had tried to heal myself but for some reason couldn’t maybe my healing only works on other? Or maybe I was so scared to heal myself? “Katherine, Are you ok?”

“Yes I’m fine.” I said trying to get up, but I fell right back down again the pain was horrific.

“Katherine, don’t lie to me. I know your hurt. I can’t heal but I do have something to stop the bleeding. Why can’t you heal yourself?”

“I have no clue. I’ve never tried before. Maybe it’s because I’m scared, maybe because it only works on others?”

He started to get his medical kit out and then another Hikapie leaped out of the shadows heading towards Gavin. “Look out!” I screamed.

But I was too late the Hikapie raked his claws against his back, and Gavin screamed out in agony. I had had enough. Blood coursed though me, I yelled out. I threw the Hikapie back and then made a barrier to protect me and Gavin. And thats when I lost consciousness.

I awoke in a small cabin, with a small fire burning brightly. There where old relics hanging on the walls and sheep wool mats. I was wearing linen pants and ragged shirt. On the table side next to me, there was a steaming hot bowl of soup. I ate it gratefully. When I was done with the meal I attempted to get up and then realized it was a bad idea. I then saw a frail woman watching me. she had frizzy grey hair and was wearing the same thing as me. “I see you’ve awoken.”
