Prologue

I sat on my bed reading a braille book when I heard the door open, I knew that it either one of my parents or my boyfriend "Star?" I placed my book on my bed and looked at the doorway, seeing a blurry figure sorrounded by a blurry backround. I can only recognize people I know by their voices "Yeah mom?" I tried squinting my eyes to see if I could atleast clear my vision a little, but unfortunately it didn't work at all.
I felt the bed sink beside me, signaling me that my mom had sat down "Star darling, we need to talk about some serious issues" she placed her hand on my lap and I placed mine on top of hers. By the tone of her voice I can tell that she had a sad look on her face

"What issue?" I said looking straight into her blurry face. She sighed an said in a pity voice "Star-- your boyfriend died in an accident last night" I covered my mouth with both of my hands as tears started to well up in my eyes "I'm so sorry darling, I know you loved him so much" I just stayed still because I didn't know what to do and I can't see. I felt two comforting arms wrap around me in a warm hug, "I just- I c-can't believe it. W-what did I ever d-do w-wrong?" I said in between sobs, my tears started pouring down into my face, staining my mom's gown but I couldn't care less "he's resting now dear. He is in peace--"

When we let go, I wiped my tears away and sniffle "mom, I- I think I'm gonna go to sleep now. I gotta think" I settled in while laying on my side, looking at nothing but blurry shapes and figures. "Alright darling. Sweet dreams" she kissed my forehead goodnight then turned off the lights and left, leaving me in a quiet, calming darkness. I closed my eyes and tears started to form again as everything that my mom told me started to resurface in my head, and this time I just let it all go. All I could possibly do in that situation was cry myself to sleep.
