I open the door and continue chatting away with Penelope and Melissa when I notice both of my parents walking down the stairs buttoning up formal clothes and buckling belts.
"Where are you two off to?" I curiously asked, unaware of the plans.
"We were going out to dinner, you girls are welcome to stay over and order a pizza or make something here," Mum invites kindly.
"Thank you, Mrs Mills," they both say automatically.
Mum does her signature smile as Dad turns off the football on the TV. "Well, we will be off, be sensible, don't break anything," Dad says while giving me a peck on the cheek and slightly nodding to the other girls.
Mum follows Dad out the door. "Bye darlings," Mum says, blowing kisses and closing the door. A few moments later and the engine of the car sounds. I hear the crackling sound of the driveway rocks moving with the car tires.

After watching three episodes of Pretty Little Liars, Melissa finally speaks up. "I got mad at Adam because he has already replaced me," Melissa says, looking quite pale in the process.
"What who!?" Penelope says, turning herself towards Melissa and leaning in.
Melissa takes a while to reply, and she looks like she is going to be sick, she swallows and answers "Alexa." A small gasp leaves both girls and contorts my face, flabbergasted.
Was he already with her when he came today? What the hell is happening?
"Alexa Dreams?" Penelope repeats, getting a mute answer.
They all sat in silence when my phone chimes signalling a message came through. All attention goes to my phone when a tab named 'Alexa' comes up on her phone. Before I have the time to react, Melissa already has the phone and is typing something back.
"Oh no, Melissa, what are you writing," I say both shocked and scared.
"Just a piece of my mind," she says through gritted teeth, "sent," she says with an evil smirk on her face, passing back the phone and I read it out loud immediately.
Alexa: Why did Melissa punch my boyfriend! He is practically dead
Me (aka Melissa): yeah hi, this is Melissa, how dare you do that to me, he deserved that, and why don't you just come over and we can sort things out
"My god Melissa, first, you put that on my phone, and secondly, don't try and start fights! You have already gotten into enough trouble for one day!" I say directly to Melissa, who is now looking at her painted nails.
"Alright, Mother," she says distastefully.
She is right, though, that was cold of Alexa to do that to her.

Thursday went horribly; Melissa was now death glaring Adam and Alexa who were sitting at their table across the cafeteria, joining the swim team.
Worst of all, Melissa's mood, seemed to affect everyone, Reece looked so depressed or at least, broken, Melissa just looked angry, as usual, Penelope wasn't eating, Hamish had disappeared, and even Matt looked kind of hurt.
I get up and leave, making everyone follow me. I go into the janitors closet and get out some buckets and fill them with water, passing them out to everyone. I give one to Melissa, and her evil smile lights up.
We all walk back to the cafeteria, holding the equipment behind our backs with evil grins across each of our faces.
Melissa, the one who needed the revenge, tapped Adam on his shoulder, making all eyes on her, and the rest of the suspicious-looking group. Everyone tips all the water on the pair of them and Melissa maniacally laughs as she pours the final bucket over him.

Alexa and Adam, having no spare clothes, had to wait for their drenched garments to dry patiently. All of Alexa's makeup had faded or run down her face leaving black marks. When Alexa sees Melissa, her face scrunches up. "I was going to give you a nasty look, but I see you have already got one," Melissa says to Alexa as Matt, Melissa, Penelope and I walk past them, off to our drama class.
We are all laughing when we enter the drama class and take our usual seats, with Matt and I sitting next to each other and Melissa and Penelope quietly chatting away with each other.
The teacher shortly arrives and hands out a form that states at the top of the page, in bold:
The arts drama programme- term 2 grade 12 theatre project.
"Like a trip, the senior drama classes will be taking an excursion to go see the 'Romeo and Juliet' play down in the AMC Michigan theatre. The train is how we will be travelling on Monday next week, and you must come. It will go for the whole day so bring money for lunches ectera. Notes are to be handed in, signed by one of your parents or guardians when entering the bus to get to the train station. If your form is not approved, you stay at school, in detention, for the whole day," she finishes her small lecture with a slight smile on her face looking at each person individually, finally meeting with my eyes.
A few chortles leave Matts mouth when he looks at my scrunched up face, "did you swallow glue or something because your body is stuck," that has to be the worst joke he has ever told.
"That was a very creative, good job. You are learning, at last, signs of a breakthrough," I retort, my fingers laced together pretending to pray to the Gods.
"Thank you, thank you," he says sarcastically, adding a fake bow to his theatrics, but is cut short by a sudden high pitched yell from the front of the class, "Mr Blight, would you care to explain that theory?"
Matt looks at the teacher, dumbfounded. "Ah-ah, yes I would actually," he starts rambling on about nonsense which has nothing to do with 'what does the deaths at the end of Romeo and Juliet represent.' After finishing, he looks proudly over at me and winks, which makes my heart melt, and I can feel the burning on her cheeks. But I don't hesitate to laugh at his answer.
"No, Mr Blight-" the bell interrupts her.
"Wow that was utterly dramatic," Melissa says, escaping the room before Alexa can see her.
