"Have you signed the form?" Penelope said on the morning of the drama excursion."Yes, Penelope, I have. Believe it or not, I am not staying at school all day in detention, don't want any more trouble from my parents. Once was enough," I reply, slightly shaking my head.We move up in the line to get a seat on the bus. "Right, Ms Mills, may I see your signed note, please," The drama teacher says before I can enter the bus.I hand her my form, and she skims over it and does a gesture with her hand, directing me onto the bus.I hop on, getting a seat a few rows back so that they aren't entirely at the last row where it is always the loudest and furthest away from the teachers. A few seconds past and Penelope, Melissa and Matt all arrive on the bus.I have my earphones in already, so I don't notice when Matt sits next to me. I whip my head around, feeling an elbow knocked against mine. Matt shocks me when I turn. I greet him with a smile and take out my earphones while pausing I'm a ruin by Marina and the Diamonds."Hey," I politely greet after a few seconds of Matt staring at the side of my face."Hey," he replies with a charming smile. After another short moment of staring, I spot Melissa and Penelope looking at us from across the aisle and mouthing "kiss him."I roll my eyes and offer one of my earphones to Matt, which he takes. I also give him full access to my songs so I can have some time glaring at Melissa who is now pretending to kiss someone, demonstrating on her left hand.===A rumble of thunder sounds like all the drama students follow the teacher across the road to the train station for another hour ride to the theatre.By now, most of the students have formed their little group of friends, the jocks, drama geeks, popular, and the regular nerds who join every class for extra credit. Happily talking away to Matt, Melissa and Penelope, I spot a Smoothie place to get a quick drink. They had five free smoothies sitting on the counter, probably rejected or failed experiments. I took all five, giving the fifth one, a banana and berry smoothie, to the teacher who was happily sipping away at her drink and yelling at students who were walking too slow. Melissa got a mango and strawberry smoothie. Matt had a banana smoothie with grated coconut and on the top. Penelope had a berry smoothie with and dried strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries on top. I had a zingy smoothie with lemon, banana, mint, berries and lime zest on the top, which was very refreshing.I could tell why they were free, mine tasted good, but it was probably meant to be a juice and instead added milk, and tried to fix it with cream and banana because lemon and lime don't suit the whole, smoothie with milk kind of vibe.===After two train rides (because trains are cancelled because of the storm) we had finally arrived at the Michigan Theater on the outer skirts of Michigan. The class walked in and sat in the middle row. Matt, Penelope, Melissa and I all sat down and started to reach for popcorn as the play began. After about a minute, Penelope whispered in my ear, "can we swap seats? I can't see behind this tall guy, and you are taller than me so you can probably see over him."I turn my head and without thinking, stood up and swapped with Penelope. I could hear snickering, probably from Melissa and Penelope who had gotten Matt and me to sit together again.Matt turned and performed another breathtaking smile towards me, still hearing the intense fangirling of Melissa and Penelope next to them. We focused back on the play.==="Come, gentle night; come, loving, black-browed night; give me my Romeo; and, when I shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night..." Applause thunders over the crowd after the ending scene with the tragic death of the forbidden love. Some people in closer rows are starting a standing ovation, or are whistling. The actors on stage come out behind the drawn curtains and are bowing; the thundering sound grows louder when the star performers, of Romeo and Juliet, come out from behind the curtain.===The class makes their way back to the train station, with the rain bucketing down and loud crashes of thunder and lighting grow overhead in the sky, midday storms.I partly hug myself, trying to protect myself from the cold rain, but I am relieved when I feel a warm set of hands wrap around my waist, one shortly pulling away to pop open a transparent umbrella, stopping the rain from hitting us. I look up to see Matt, once again, staring at me with those big, sparkling eyes. The train that was cancelled earlier has opened again, so the drama students all jump into the different cabins, hugging their friends to stay warm. Shortly the heaters come on, and everyone is standing and trying to get the heat, not knowing that they are blocking the warmth from the rest of the passengers.I'm cooped up against Matt who is sitting on the seat next to me, with Melissa and Penelope finally leaving us alone. Arriving back at school, I hop into Melissa's car, seeming Penelope is tutoring some year ten before the end of term exams, I sit in the passenger's seat, exhausted from the constant travelling and extreme drop in temperature. All I want to do is jump in my nice warm bed, with some hot chocolate, watch Netflix, and be with Matt.I awkwardly shuffle in my seat and fasten my seatbelt.===After entering my house and being welcomed and bombarded with questions from my parents about the day, I finally make it back to my bed. I hit the corner of my bed and automatically face plant into the mattress, my bag still in hand. I let out a small irritated groan from pain and get up to have a nice warm shower. After my short ten minute shower, I get dressed in a comfortable, matching tracksuit and plopping back into my bed, only being called down for dinner seconds later. When I get down, I'm greeted again by my parents, and they ask about my day."Exhausting, but good," is my reply, which seems to click into place, with her Mother finally realising that I probably don't have the energy to talk. Thank God for pigs, they are cute and delicious. For our dinner, we all enjoy roast pork, accompanied by crackling, of course. Going upstairs again to brush my teeth and watch an episode of PLL, I snuggle into bed and drift off to sleep, with my last thought being Matt.
