Hey, so that you know, I signed you up to a drama class xoxo

- Melissa

What! Melissa, I don't think that is what you need, is there an anti-drama class?

- Vanessa

Haha, very funny, but sadly, you have to come

- Melissa

Fine. Maybe it won't be so bad!?

- Vanessa

Great! Starts in 20 mins in the drama room ;)

- Melissa

MELISSA!

"I can't believe you have made me come; I don't think that you need lessons to be more dramatic!" I exclaim.

Melissa does a small smirk at my poor joke. "I guess you're right; I should have signed us up for the comedian class, you would have aced it."

"Do we even have a comedian class," I earnestly ask.

"Who knows! But the list for fashion and design was full so this was the second-best thing, plus Penelope insisted," Melissa says while walking me to the Drama room.

"So it's Penelope that I have to blame," I say, a small chuckle echoing in my throat.

===

We walk in to find a spot next to Penelope to sit. I sit on the right side of Melissa and Penelope on the left.

I notice a new person walking in and sitting next to her.

"Who's that again?" I quietly ask Penelope while leaning over Melissa.

"Matt Blight," she says back and gives a small wave to Matt who is now questionably looking over at us.

He gives a small wave and turns back to look at the front.

===

Now and then I catch Matt's eye and give him a quick toothy grin. I don't think I could be any more awkward right now.

"Hey, pull out your phone," Matt jokingly says.

"Why?" I ask him curiously, wanting to see where this will go.

"Because then you can stop staring at me and take a picture, so it lasts longer," after saying this he has a recognisable glint of pride in his eye, probably from his cliché comment.

I give a look that says "really," and sarcastically laugh which makes Matts' eyes go wider and a small smirk climbs across his face.

"Maybe you should go and find the comedian class because that was so funny," I awkwardly say back.

"I didn't know Ariel could talk out of the water, kinda ruins the story, don't you think," he playfully says, which makes me shut up and turn back to the front. My hair is auburn, not red.

"Well, you're no Prince Charming," I mumble under her breath.

===

"Finally, I am free!" Melissa says while running out of the classroom to lunch.

"Your freedom is nothing compared to mine; I got away from Matt, he would not quit talking, I didn't hear a single thing!" I say while flailing my arms in the air.

We walk to lunch, and as soon as I walk in, splat, Matts lunch tray spills all over me, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

"Sorry, Ariel," he apologetically implies, trying to stifle laughs by covering his hand over his mouth.

I death glare him before going back to my locker to get a clean jumper.

Luckily I always keep a spare change of clothes. I have a floral bomber jacket that will go nicely with my black jeans, black and white converse and a white strappy tank top.

I change in front of her locker, ignoring stares and comments. I put the pudding jumper in my locker and walk back off to lunch.

To my surprise, I spot Melissa and Penelope at our usual table sitting with Adam, Hamish, Reece, Charlie and... Matt.

I carefully sit down next to Melissa and stare at Matt.

He notices and sends a toothy smile which makes Reece, who is sitting next to me, laugh.

"What are you doing, Matt?" Reece asks.

Matt turns to Reece and instantly drops his smile, so Reece turns to me instead.

"I think Matt has a thing for you, Vanessa," he says, which makes my cheeks burn.

"And I think Ariel has a thing for me," Matt says while laughing, which makes me snap out of my thoughts and death glare both of them.

"Wow, fiesty," laughs Charlie, who was unnoticeably laughing too.

===

After lunch, Penelope and I head to science. The teacher assigns a small task that needs to be done in groups of three. "Why can't it be paired Miss," says Zara who is sitting right at the front. Instead of answering, she gives out the group lists. I'm paired with Penelope and, ugh, Matt.

"I didn't even know you were in this class," I say directly to Matt as he walks over to start the assignment.

"Yeah I think that I walked into the wrong room all year to have science and stare at the back of your head the whole lesson," he admits with a small laugh and then reconsiders what he says and looks up at me embarrassed.

I don't know what to say, so I raise one eyebrow and wink at him, "well thanks, Eric."

He frowns at that, "really, Eric, that is your great nickname for me, what even is that?" He asks.

"Have you not seen 'the Little Mermaid' " Penelope says as if someone had just slapped a whole handful of surprise on her face.

"No, I just know the main character, which is Ariel and she can't talk out of water for most the movie," he flatly says, while pointing at me.

"And Eric is the prince that lives ashore," Penelope says.

"But never mind. Right the task, who wants what part?" I ask cutting off the conversation and distracting Matt, and I exchanged eye contact.

===

"Hey, if you don't like the nickname, I will find a new one and test it out to see if you like it, and if I can't think of one, it is staying Eric," I say with a smile plastered on my face while walking to her locker with Matt.

But before I get the chance to say anything else, I am distracted by familiar voices screeching down the hallways.

I run down the hallway to see a crowd of people surrounding Melissa and Adam.

"Oh, no!" I say, handing all of my books to Matt who chases after me to see what all the commotion is.

"How could you do this! I thought we had something, Adam, I loved you!" Melissa says, distressed.

"You were just a fling, I was never going to keep you. You could say you were just a passing phase to a whole new world of possibilities," Adam calmly replies almost like he is reading off a script.

He tries to say something else but before he can his eyes turn towards me as I run-up to both of them, fists clenched, raising my arm and throwing a punch which makes me hand burn afterwards.

I ignore the pain by replacing it with hate and anger.

"Go to hell!" I screeched while watching the blood fall from Adams' nose as he touches the cut on his lip. My voice sounds unfamiliar as it escapes my mouth.

Where are the hell all the teachers in this school?

Matt soon runs up and pulls Melissa and me out of the circle and down the hall.
