Chapter 8

Chapter 8:
Fabians POV:
"The Girl on Fire is still alive."
"NINA!" I screamed as loud as I could.
She's alive!! Where is she? I have to go and look for her! What if the careers find her before I do? I immediately filled up my water bottle at the nearby pond and ran back to the cave and packed all my stuff up.
Well I think i know where to find her.
I started walking back towards the cornucopia and saw the careers go running into the forest and left Bertie Jones In charge of the camp while they went in search for Nina.
I looked around the bushes to see if anyone was there.
Suddenly I heard rustling in the bushes close to me. I slowly ducked my head down. A familiar face go hopping around the landlines that I helped dig up, then grab a few things from the pile and hop back through them. Wait a minute. It was Nina she was hopping around them!
"Nina!" I whisper yelled whilst tears of joy ran down my face.
Her eyebrows knit wondering who called her.
"Nina!" I said again.
She looked at me. As soon as she saw me she stuffed the things in her bag and ran off in a different direction.
"NINA!" I screamed.
I chased after her. Finally after chasing her for like 20 minutes I gave up she was just too fast. Tears started running down my cheek.
"Nina..please come back.." I managed to say.
"Look who we have, lover boy again." I heard a familiar voice say.
"What do you want Eddie?" I hissed.
"I want you dead."
He grabbed his sword.
"See ya lover boy.." He raised his arm to slice open my leg, but Nina jumped in front of me and took the sword to stomach.
"NINA!" I screamed.
"Now that she's dead he'll die soon enough anyways." Joy said.
They all laughed and walked back towards their camp.
"Nina why did you have to do this?
She didn't answer. She was losing a lot of blood.
"Do you need help..?" A voice said from up in the trees.
"Who are you?" I yelled.
Whoever it was dropped from the trees.
"I'm Amber Millington from district 11." She said.
"Here take this it'll stop the bleeding." She handed me some sort of gauze or cloth.
I lift up Nina's shirt to show where Eddie cut her. I wrapped up her stomach so the blood would stop.
"Nina? Are you okay? And Amber thanks."
"No problem." She replied.
Nina still didn't respond. All she did was move her hand to her stomach. I picked her up bridal style and kissed her forehead.
"Aww! Fabina!" Amber squealed.
"What?" I said.
"It's a combination of you and Nina's name! I totally ship you guys!"
I rolled my eyes at her.
I started walking towards that cave that I had found a few days earlier.
"Wait! Where are you two going?"
"I'm going to find a safe place for Nina and I, where I can take care of her."
"Aww! Sweet"
I rolled my eyes again. Finally I found the cave, along with some help from Amber.
I layed Nina down on the cave floor. Then I layed down my jacket for her and put her on the jacket and put my sleeping bag on her as a blanket.
"Amber? You know the careers? "
"Yeah of course"
"Could you check to see if their supplies are still in a giant pile by the cornucopia?"
"Of course."
She went running out of the cave and I followed behind her. When we got to the bushes near the cornucopia.
"See still there just like it was 2 hours ago!"
"Yeah yeah whatever. I'd better go back to help Nina." I said.
"Yeah yeah let's go."
We started walking back to the cave we were in for a surprise when we got back. The second I walked into the cave I knew something was wrong.
Nina, was nowhere to be seen.
"LOVER BOY!!" Yelled a voice.
"WE HAVE NINA!! HAHAHA!" Eddie yelled.
"I've had enough of you Eddie!" I yelled.
I grabbed Nina's sword that had hurt her. I ran as fast as I could to the cornucopia.
"Give.Me.Her.Back. NOW." I yelled.
Joy and Eddie smirked.
"Never in a million years." They started walking back to the cornucopia I think that's where they're keeping her.
Please dont hurt her! I don't think i could ever forgive myself if she died. After sacrificing herself for me, there was no way I was gonna leave her there.
I dropped my stuff on the ground and went looking through my stuff for all the weapons I had.
"Amber so happen to have any knives or bow and arrows or any kind of weapon?" I calmly asked Amber. I didn't feel calm.
"Uh yeah I do lemme get them there in my bag."
She took the bag off her shoulder and grabbed all that she could find.
All that we had gathered where 2 sets of silver knives (Nina's), my spear, 2 hatchets, the sword from Nina's injury and some sort of gun from Amber.
"So.. Do you have a plan?" She asked me.
"How about we create some sort of distraction like make a big bonfire and of course knowing the careers will probably wanna kill the person responsible for the fire while they're gone, we grab Nina and run for our lives! Oh and there'll be traps set up around the fire catching the careers. OOh and we blow up their food supply!" I said.
"That's... Actually a pretty good plan, sounds good to me!"
"I know Nina would do the same thing if it were me."
"Still Fabina! It's my number one. Well now that I think about Fabinas the only one....... Oh well."

-5 days later-

"Alright this green stuff is gonna smoke like crazy so once you light it hide in the trees. While the careers are busy I'll run to the cornucopia, grab Nina and blow up their supply!"
"And how are you going to blow it up?" She asked.
"Easy just trigger one of the bombs placed close to the pile that would trigger all of them therefore blowing up the entire pile." I replied while dropping the green leaves onto the pile of wood.
"Well I guess this is goodbye for now." I said.
"Yep see you soon."
I nodded then took my place in the bushes.
"Oh my god Eddie look! Someone lit a fire!"
I heard Joy say faintly.
"Let's get em." I watched the m go running and laughing towards our trap. As soon as they were gone I went running into the mouth of
the cornucopia. Right next to the cornucopia was their stockpile of food. When I was in the 'copia I looked around for Nina.
"Nina!" I whisper yelled.
I found a table that had blood all over it. I also noticed that in the blood was chunks of hair and I think a bit of skin. Yuck. At that moment I heard the canon blast 3 times.
That must've been the careers. Thank god they're gone.
Now where was Ni-. Before I couldn't finish my sentence I heard a retching sound, like someone was puking.
I slowly walked closer to where the sound was coming from.
In the bushes was Nina puking her guts up.
As I got closer I noticed her hair was thinner and she looked really skinny and pale.
"What are you looking at?" I realized she was standing up straight looking at me.
"I-I uh... I- uh N-nothing."
She had bruises and cuts all over her body and a black eye.
"Oh my gosh Nina! What did they do to you?!? Are you alright?" I frantically grabbed her arm and kissed the bruise on her arm.
She half smiled the said
"They just tortured me trying to get me to tell them where you were. I never told them."
"Thank you Nina. You are one tough cookie you know that?"
She shrugged.
"Oh yeah I met this girl from district 11 that Amber girl she helped me save you. Wanna meet her?"
She nodded then I grabbed her hand and started walking back to the camp site.
Amber was sitting on a log looking at her nails.
"Amber? This is Nina! Well you probably know about her and how she's like the bet hunter and really pretty." I mumbled the last part hoping neither of them had heard it.
"Hi I'm Amber! I totally ship you two you guys are a match made in heaven! I call you Fabina!"
I looked at Nina who had burst out laughing but after a few seconds of laughing, her knees buckled and she lurched forward.
"Nina!"
She started puking again but there was nothing to puke up anyways it was just stomach acid left.
"Amber get her something to eat and drink quick!" I yelled.
I saw Amber go running out of the cave as I laid down the sleeping bag that I had and put her in it. I also laid my extra blanket down on top of her and balled up her extra jacket for a pillow.
At that moment I heard a beeping sound.
"Beep beep beep beep"
Then I saw Amber carrying a little bag and a parachute that must have been from Haymitch.
"Here I managed to take as much food as I could from the careers bags they had left at the bonfire."
She handed me a bag that had apples and bread and crackers and all kinds of things in it. There was also a big water bottle that seemed to be full.
"Thanks you're the best Amber"
She nodded.
I should probably see Nina's cut on her stomach.
I unzipped the sleeping bag and lifted up her shirt. She flinched as I lifted it.
Not to be mean or anything but it was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.
But it still looked like it was freshly cut. Then I realized that's what all that blood on the table must be from! That's how the careers tortured her. They kept cutting her stomach open!
"Poor Nina!" I heard Amber say.
"How did that happen?" She asked.
"Well the careers where about to cut open the big vein in my leg to kill me but Nina to the hit to her stomach to save me that's where I met you then the careers took her and we got her back and Bam here we are."
"Ooh." She said.
"Are you alright Nina?"
She didn't answer but Amber said something instead.
"Well I better be on my way now Fabina I've got to go see my.. Allie from my district. His name is Alfie I told him I'd meet him at the lake. Bye Fabina!"
"Bye!" Nina and I said together surprisingly she didn't answer me but answered her.
"Why did you do this Nina?" I whispered not expecting to get an answer.
"People do crazy things when they're in love." She whispered back.
Wait what? S-she's in love? W-with m-me? I couldn't help but smiling.
What I did next was something i actually did right in my life. I finally manned up and kissed her.
You know how in books people say their first kiss was magical and how you could practically see sparks fly? Well they're right cause I could literally see sparks flying as we kissed. We both pulled away at the same time gasping for air.
I smiled at her. She smiled back and I laid down next to her and fell asleep pretty quickly.

So Fabina finally kissed. WOOOO!
I'm soooo sorry I haven't updated in so long!! I lost my iPod but I found it in the couch and I accidentally erased this chapter so I had to re write it. But I'll start chapter 9 soon. And I've been thinking maybe after this book I'll do Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Depends if you guys like this story.Please give me some feedback and let me know what you think about it!
