Chapter 4

Chapter 4:
Nina's POV:
Shortly after I left I heard Fabian walk into the room.
"Hey you all right?"
"Yeah I'm fine just nervous for all this."
"Of course you are I'm pretty sure anyone in this place would be!"
When I looked at him all I saw was the boy who helped me when I needed it.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"I w-was?"
"Yeah you kinda were.." He said while raising his left eyebrow.
"Oh it's just.. That.. Oh never mind."
"No no tell me!"
"Well.. Fine. Why.. did you stand up for me in seventh grade.? We didn't even know each other! You just randomly appeared and made them go away!" I yelled.
"Well I couldn't let them hurt you! I too have been hurt by them! I couldn't let you be their new victim!"
He yelled back.
"Why do you care so much about me?!?"
"It's just that those boys have made people commit suicide from their bullying i didn't want to see another person go from their stupid acts."he said calmly.
I layed down on my bed.
"Well goodnight Fabian"
"Night" he said as he left the room.
I just don't get it why would he care so much about me? I quickly took a shower. Those things are seriously cool! Anyways then i changed into some pyjamas, brushes my teeth and crawled into bed.
-The couple days at the presentation to the Gamemakers-
"Nina Martin" a voice said.
"Good luck and throw straight" Fabian said quietly.
I walked into the room and went straight to the knifes and axes.
I threw 4 in row all hitting bullseye.
They clapped at it then they saw an Avox walk in with a pig. They weren't clapping at me they were clapping at the head Gamemaker, Seneca Crane, who had paid for that stupid pig.
I was so mad that I started throwing knifes at the wall above their heads spelling out
"Thanks for watching" in knifes.
I bowed and left.
-Later after dinner watching our scores-
"District 12:
Fabian Rutter with a score of.. 9."
Everyone cheered for Fabian when we heard his score.
"Nice one Fabian! I hope mine isn't a 0 after what I did."
"I don't think they'll give you a 0 Nina."
I nodded. They knew about what I did and Effie wasn't exactly happy about it.
"District 12: Nina Martin with a score of... 12! I've never seen a 12 before that's impossible!"
I was in shock I mean I didn't deserve a 12! I threw knives at their heads!
I got up and ran to my room and then went straight to bed.
-The next day-
When I woke up it was already noon. I had interviews in less than 7 hours! I got up took a shower and went to lunch I guess. I played around with my food until Fabian walked into the room.
"Morning." He said quietly.
"Morning" I said back
I continued to play with my food.
"Still not hungry Nina? You have to eat sometime you can't starve yourself you'll need all the strength you can get the actual games are in less than a 2 days!" He exclaimed
"Just leave me alone for a while okay?" I said
He nodded, grabbed an apple the went back to his room.
-after getting our outfits on and watching almost everyone's interview.-
"Now I'd like to introduce the one we've all been waiting for,
NINA MARTIN THE GIRL ON FIRE!!!"
Cried Caeser Flickerman the host of our interview show.
I took his hand as he led me to a chair next to his chair.
"So Nina, about the Reaping. I'll bet that was your sister wasn't it? The girl you volunteered for."
"Yes yes. My sister Bailee. When my parents died I promised that is protect her with my life and make sure that she'd never get hurt. And that I'd try and win for her."
"Oh how heart touching. So let's talk about those flames from the tributes Parade! How did you feel about that?"
"Well to be honest with you I was just hoping I wouldn't burn to death!"
"In fact I'm wearing them today, would you like to see them?" I asked as I stood up.
I started spinning and the bottom of my dress was engulfed in flames. The crowd went wild!
"Well it appears that's all the time we have Nina but we shall see you in the Arena!" He exclaimed
"NINA MARTIN THE GIRL ON FIRE!!!"
I walked off the stage to see Fabian waiting for me.
"Nice job Nina!"
"Thanks and good luck Fabian!"

Fabians POV:
"Welcome to the stage, FABIAN RUTTER!!!" Caeser yelled.
"So Fabian, I'm also gonna guess that little boy was your brother?"
"Yeah my only sibling."
"Ah I see."
"So Fabian any, girl back home?"
"Oh no not really" I say blushing
"Ah c'mon Fabian your a handsome kind and funny young man so c'mon is there a girl back home?" He said questioningly
"Well there is this girl that I've had a crush on forever, but I don't think she noticed me until the Reaping."
"Well I'll tell you what, you go out and win this thing then when you get home she'll have no choice but to go out with you!"
"I don't think winning will help me."
"But why not?"
"Well, she came here with me today."
"Well that's unlucky."
"Yeah it is."
"looks like we have some star crossed lovers from District 12!"
"Looks like we're out of time now Fabian!"
