-Lexi-
We were now sitting in the massive field, having a picnic for lunch.
I smiled up at Jason as he looked at down at me. I absolutely loved the way he looked at me.
It was the way Romeo looked at Juliet. As if I was the only thing that mattered to him.
Although I still hate him for what he's done to me, I've learned to put that in the past.
I don't regret kissing him, I don't regret anything. In fact I'm happier. Happier that I don't have to continue acting like I hate him when I was slowly catching feelings for him.
I'm not in love with him, no. Not yet. Not that I'm 100% sure yet.
I'm sure I will be, in time. Maybe I am in love with him, I just don't know it yet. No, Lexi shut up. You're not falling in love with that jerk.I watched as Jason looked down at his phone. Shawn's name appeared in the screen.
"Why is Shawn calling me?" He asked, to which I shrugged.
"He knows we're on a date, he wouldn't call unless is was necessary" He responded."Answer it then" I replied
"No, I don't want to waste any time with you. Maybe he's just calling to see if we're okay? I'll see if he texts me" he said as I gave him a smile.
Then, his phone pinged and Shawn's name popped up again. However, this time it was a text. I could read what it said.
Jason, answer me now. It's important. VERY important.
From, Shawn. After reading that, Jason picked up his phone and answered it.
A minute or so into the call, Jason's face completely dropped.
-Jason-
"Connor and his gang, they're here Jason. We need to move. Away from here. As soon as possible. I've packed yours and Lexis stuff. Get back here. As soon as possible" Shawn spoke down the phone.I felt fear, anger and hurt rush throughout my whole body. What was my smile, now became a frown. We have to go. I can't risk my baby getting hurt. Not now, not ever.
I grabbed Lexi's hands in mine and pulled her up off the blanket. I pulled her in, closely and whispered into her ear "We've got to go. Don't look or act suspicious. Smile and pretend I'm telling to a joke. Please Lexi." I said.
She nodded and began giggling slightly. We laced our hands into each others and casually walked out of the fair ground and to my car.
As soon as we were in my car and out onto the highways, I sped as fast as the speed limit would let me travel. I needed to get Lexi out of here. I need to make sure she's safe.
I looked over at her, her face was slightly pale. "Are you okay?" I asked her.
"Yeah, I'm just worried. What did Shawn tell you on the phone? Why did we have to leave?" She asked, the words flying off of her tongue like a rocket.
"It doesn't matter, don't worry. I will make sure you're safe, Lexi. Okay, I won't let anything happen to you. Do you trust me?"
"Yes, I trust that you will do what you can to keep me out of harms way" she responded.
I felt happier knowing that she knew I would do anything I can.
Then it dawned on me.. What if something bad happened? What if I can't be there to protect her one day?
I shook off the terrifying thoughts and focused on getting her safe.
We were about a few miles from my home. A few miles seemed like a lot but considering we were around 40/50 miles away, it's not that far.
Suddenly I felt something hit the back of the car. I looked into the rear view mirror and noticed two men driving in a black Mercedes behind me.
I instantly knew, that it was people from Connors gang. It had to be.
I quickly stepped on the accelerator and sped off as fast as I could. The rivals car wasn't far behind, but it was far enough to just be able to make it home without them catching us.
Then, I felt the back two tires go down. I again, looked out of the rear view mirror and saw one of the guys, with his hand stuck out the window, holding a gun. He must have shot my back tires.
Fuck.
What do I do now?
Lexi looked up and me, fear stricken all over her face.
"On the count of 3, we jump out and run. That way. Keep on going forward until you see your first right, then there will be another right which leads us back into this road. Then we come back out, and take their car. They will both follow us on foot. Got it?" I said to her. I knew it was a lot to take in for her but she had to know. "I'll be behind you at all costs" I carried on.
She looked up to me. I could tell she was scared. Fear was written all over her face. She was pale as a ghost.
"3"
"2"
"1"
And we both jumped out and ran for our lives. Finally we got into the alley way and just as we had, I heard two car doors slam shut.
I hurriedly grabbed my phone out of my pocket and rung Shawn.
"They've found us. We're down Drayton Alley, running from them. They've got guns. Hurry Shawn. Please"
