"Thanks for tonight, it was lovely"

"I fell on my ass like ten times"

"What can I say, watching how much you suck at ice skating makes for a thrilling evening" Kayla stopped and turned to face me as we reached a small silver hatchback, "this is me, can I give you a ride anywhere?"

"Nah I'm actually parked about 100 metres back"

She raised an eyebrow, "why didn't you say anything?"

"I didn't want to say goodbye just yet"

The silence hung in the air and I felt like the biggest idiot, until I noticed her blush. I made her blush and I felt my heart rise in my chest.

"Jace..." I watched and I could almost see the gears turning in her head, the millions ways she was thinking of letting me down and internally I was panicking.

She liked me, I knew she liked me so I did the only thing that came to mind to save the situation. I knew it was a dick move but if I was only going to have one date, I wasn't going to miss this opportunity.

So I kissed her.

She hesitated a moment before kissing me back, I had expected her to push me away, to throw me a left hook but instead it was like something had ignited. Kissing her was like nothing I had experienced, her lips moved against my own and the urgency was electrifying.

After that initial moment there was no hesitation, while I had made the first move, their was no questioning who was in control as her hands clutched the front of my shirt and pulled me closer toward her

I was trying to ignore the fact that this was resulting in a goddamn painful erection when she pulled away and whispered, "come home with me"

All I could do was nod and follow.

I hadn't been able to do anything else since.

oOo

"Get up"

"Urgh"

"GET UP!"

The ice cold water being tipped over my head woke me with a start. Jamie stood in front of me, one had on her hip, the other holding an empty bucket as she stared at my expectantly. Her lips were pursed and I could see the fire in her eyes, I had forgotten how terrifying someone who was five foot nothing could be.

"Good morning Jamie", I sighed.

"Good morning? Good morning?! How can it be a good morning when I was up all night worried about you?"

I rubbed my temples and stood up, any hope remaining of it all being a nasty nightmare was squashed once again, "All night? Jamie I came home at ten and you were fast asleep. Don't be so melodramatic"

"Were you with her?" she poked my chest, "I swear to god if you don't tell me where in the next five seconds I will walk out that door"

Good was what I so sorely wanted to retort but I knew I couldn't let her leave, I'd seen enough sci fi movies to know if you mess with even the smallest part of the past, everything goes to shit.

"Jamie" I grabbed her hands and held them in my own, ignoring the sick feeling in my stomach, "I was at Jonathan's, you're right I must of hit my head and I was just a bit confused. I'm alright now"

She collapsed into my chest and started sobbing, whether it was real or fake with Jamie I could never tell, "I was just so worried baby and you woke up talking about some other girl"

"Shhhh it's okay" I rubbed her back to soothe her, praying silently it was the end of her little outburst.

"You just should have called" Jamie looked up at me, her bottom lip sticking out.

I knew how this story went, she pouted and I would find myself apologising for things that won't even remotely my fault. This would appease her and next thing I knew we would be having mind blowing make up sex.

So I shouldn't have surprised when she dropped to her knees and started tugging at my zipper. My stomach turned and I lifted her to her feet, "Uh, um, I- I don't have time for this right now"

She advanced on me and I found myself stumbling until I felt the back of my legs hit the couch that had been my refuge for the last eight hours, she pushed me down and straddled my lap.

"Come on baby, we'll make it quick. I just want to show you I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions. I know you love me", she purred into my ear.

So it had started already, the hints. I'm not sure if she hoped legitimately thought I felt that way or just if she said it often enough it would just stick.

I pushed her to the side and pulled up my fly, cursing the fact that despite the fact my mind knew that I was definitely not going to be sleeping with Jamie while stuck in this pergutory, my junk had other ideas. She was cute, I had to give her that. Her mane of red hair, dark eyes and a sinfully wicked smirk, always drew attention but she was always more trouble than it was worth.

And she wasn't Kayla.

"I left something at Jonathan's and I'm going to be late for class. I might be home late tonight" I called as I grabbed my keys and made a beeline for the door.

"Hurry home, we'll pick this up then" she shouted after me.

I didn't look back.
