Taking care of a newborn was no joke. You've endured many sleepless nights, tending to Mika. Your tasks would be interrupted, or left undone, so you could breastfeed her. You also had to go through diaper explosions.
Midorima did help out a lot, but you refused to let him get up with the baby at night, because you knew he had to be well rested for work.
You just wished that you had a chance to be well rested, too.
...
Midorima left for work after kissing your forehead, as well as Mika's. You were half asleep, breastfeeding your daughter.
You let out a loud yawn, stretching what you could without bothering Mika.
"I can't wait for you to sleep through the night," you mumbled tiredly, moving her from your boob to Midorima's side of the bed, where she fell back asleep.
You laid back down, taking this opportunity to go back asleep yourself.
...
Mika's shrill cry woke you up again.
Glancing at the clock, you groaned, realizing you had only been asleep for an hour.
"What's wrong?" you asked, rubbing her arm with your finger, "You ate not that long ago... Is it your diaper?"
Her cries increased in volume as you checked her butt, only to find it clean.
"Mika, it's okay," you cooed, standing up to hold her, "It'll be all right."
You began to rock and shush her gently, pacing around your home. But much to your dismay, after half an hour, she was still crying.
You tried everything from changing her, to feeding her, to even letting her cry it out. None of it was working.
You sat down with her on the couch, just about in tears. Your exhaustion was to much for you to handle a crying baby, since all you wanted to do was sleep.
You decided to call Midorima. You couldn't handle it by yourself anymore.
"Hello?"
"Shin," you said, your voice cracking, "I can't do this anymore."
"What do you mean? Is that Mika crying?"
"I don't know what to do!" you cried out, "She won't stop!"
The tears had finally fallen, and you began sniffling. "I'm just so tired, and I want to close my eyes. I can't handle this right now!"
You heard him sigh. "[First Name], calm down."
"But--"
"I'll clock out early. Dad only had me doing some paperwork. I'll be home as soon as I can."
"O-Okay..."
...
When Midorima got home, he found you asleep on the couch, Mika still in your arms.
He sighed, gently taking the baby, who was asleep as well, and going into his room to lay her down in the bassinet. He went back out into the living room, placing a hand on your arm to shake you.
"Wake up, [First Name]."
You opened your eyelids slowly. "I want to sleep, Shin... Wh-Where's Mika?"
"She's fine," Midorima replied softly, "I laid her down."
You sighed, closing your eyes again.
"[First Name], why don't you lay down in bed?"
"No."
He rolled his eyes, but gathered you into his arms. "You're stubborn."
You cracked a small smile. "I just wanted you to pick me up."
He figured as much. "And lazy, apparently."
He set you on the bed, and you immediately snuggled up into the blankets.
Midorima dressed in more casual and comfortable clothing, getting into bed next to you. "Get some rest, [First Name]. I'll tend to Mika when she wakes up."
You hummed in response, too tired to actually talk.
...
Shin-chan is great.
