The night air was cool, with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves of the trees that lined the quiet streets of Tokyo. The city's usual vibrancy has settled into a tranquil lull, where the hum of distant traffic is the only reminder of the world beyond the small, secluded garden where Satoru Gojo stands. His signature white hair glimmers faintly under the moonlight, and his trademark blindfold is absent, revealing his piercing blue eyes — eyes that has seen more than most could ever imagine.
Gojo rarely allows himself to feel vulnerable. As the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer, vulnerability is a luxury he couldn't afford. But tonight is different. Tonight, he is meeting her.
She walks into the garden, her presence id like a soft ripple in the fabric of the world around her. Her name is Miyu Fujikawa, and she is everything Gojo has never known he needed — empathetic, beautiful, intelligent, thoughtful, caring, and loving. In her eyes, Gojo sees something he has long seen forgotten — a warmth that pierced through the cold armour he had built around his heart.
"You're late," she teased, her voice a soothing melody that made Gojo's heart skip a beat.
"Traffic," Gojo replied with a small, playful smirk, though they both know that nothing could delay him if he doesn't want to be delayed.
Miyu moves closer, her hand reaching out to lightly touch his. Even this small gesture held an intimacy that is new and terrifying for Gojo. But he doesn't pull away. He has learned to cherish these moments, to let them linger just a little longer than he used to.
"How was your day?" she asked, her voice soft and inviting.
Gojo shrugs, a casual motion that belied the turmoil beneath his calm exterior. "Same as always. Exorcised a few curses, dealt with a few troublesome students... Nothing out of the ordinary."
Miyu's smile is small, but her eyes are full of understanding. She knows the weight he carries, the expectations that are placed on him as the strongest sorcerer. And yet, she never asked for more than he could give. She is content with these stolen moments, these quiet nights where the world seems to disappear, leaving only the two of them.
But tonight, there is something different in the air, something that make Gojo's usual confidence waver. He could feel it — a dark presence lurking in the shadows, watching, waiting. And he know that their time together is running out.
"Miyu," he begin, his voice uncharacteristically hesitant. "There's something I need to talk to you about."
She looks up at him, her expression is serious now, sensing the gravity of his tone. "What is it, Satoru?"
Gojo takes a deep breath, steeling himself for what he is about to say. "I want to protect you," he said, his voice firm. "But the world I live in, the world of jujutsu sorcerers... it's dangerous. There are enemies out there who would use you against me. I can't let that happen."
Miyu's hand tightens around his, and she nods, her eyes filled with determination. "I know, Satoru. But I'm not afraid. I've learned from the best, haven't I?"
Gojo's lips curved into a small smile at her words. Over the past months, he has been teaching her how to defend herself, how to sense curses and protect her mind from the dark forces surrounded their world. She is strong — stronger than he has ever expected. But still, the thought of her being hurt because of him is more than he could bear.
"I've layered a barrier," he continues, his voice steady. "One that will keep you hidden from anyone who means you harm. Only I will know where you are. It's the best way to keep you safe."
Miyu looks at him for a long moment, her eyes searching his face as if she could see through the depths of his soul. "And what about you?" she asked quietly. "Who's going to keep you safe?"
Gojo's smile fades, replaced by a shadow of the burden he carries. "I can handle myself," he said simply. "But if anything happens, if things get too dangerous, I need you to promise me something."
Miyu frowns, sensing the seriousness of his request. "What is it?"
"Promise me that you'll run. Don't look back. Don't wait for me. Just go somewhere safe."
Miyu's eyes filled with tears, but she nods, understanding the gravity of his words. "I promise," she whispered, though her heart ached at the thought of leaving him behind.
Gojo pulls her into his arms, holding her close as if he could shield her from all the darkness in the world. For a moment, they stood there, the weight of the world forgotten as they find solace in each other's embrace.
But deep down, Gojo knows that this is the only beginning. The darkness is closing in, and soon, he would have to make a choice — a choice that would change everything.
As they parted, Gojo looks into Miyu's eyes, his expression resolute. "No matter what happens," he said softly. "I will always protect you."
Miyu smiles through her years, her love for him shining in her eyes. "And I will always protect you, Satoru."
With that, they turned and walked away from the garden, their hands intertwined as they faced whatever fate has in store for them. And in that moment, Gojo knows that no matter the cost, he would do whatever it takes to keep her safe — even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.
As the night deepened and the shadows grow longer, Gojo could feel the weight of the impending storm. But with Miyu by his side, he knows that he isn't facing it alone. And for the first time in a long time, he allows himself to believe in a future where they could be together, safe and free from the darkness that threatens to tear them apart.
But deep down, he also know that some dreams are too fragile to last. And as the first strings of dawn begin to light the horizon, Gojo couldn't shake the feeling that the hardest part is yet to come.
