Gojo walks away from the hideout, the fading light of dusk casting long shadows over the forest. Every steps he takes away from Miyu feels like an impossible weight dragging him down. Yet he force himself to keep moving forward. He needs to stay focused, to push away the gnawing fear in his chest that something irreplaceable is slipping through his fingers.
The plan is simple, or at least he keeps telling himself that. Isolate the threat, confront the enemy, and eliminate any danger to Miyu. Yet, even as the plan formed clearly in his mind, a sharp reminder of what he is risking.
He knows she was right — he is pushing her away. But Gojo couldn't let her in on this, not when the very knowledge could place her in even greater danger. He has spent his life protecting others, never letting his guard down, always calculating the best move. But with Miyu, his calculations have faltered.
Suddenly, the rustle of leaves pull him from his thoughts. He stopeed, his senses heightening as he scans the area around him. The forest is eerily quiet, a silent that set his nerves on edge.
Without warning, a flicker of cursed energy brushes against his senses. Gojo narrows his eyes, his entire body tensing. He isn't alone. He isn't surprised; the enemy has been watching him, waiting for a moment of vulnerability, and now, it seems, they have found it.
From the shadows, the two figures emerge, their forms twisted by dark energy. Gojo recognized them immediately — the captives from the interrogation, the ones who had whispered threats about Miyu, who had planted seeds of doubt in his mind.
"You're far from your little hideout, Gojo," one of them sneered, their voice dripping with malice. "Leaving your precious possession unguarded? How careless of you."
Gojo's heart skips a beat, but he keeps his expression neutral, his gaze cold as ice. "You're mistaken if you think I'd let my guard down so easily," he said, his voice calm but laced with danger. "I won't let you anywhere near her."
The other captive laughs, a sound that sends chills down Gojo's spine. "It doesn't matter how strong you are, Gojo. Our master has already set his sights on her. You can't protect her forever."
Gojo's hands clenched into fists, the memory of their last encounter fresh in his mind. The way they have taunted him, insinuating that Miyu is just a pawn, a tool for their master to exploit. Their words had shaken him more than he cares to admit, and now, standing before them again, the doubt resurfaced.
"What does he want with her?" Gojo demands, his voice dangerously low.
The first captive smirks, stepping closer. "You already know the answer, don't you? She's the key to your destruction, Gojo. The one thing you love, the one thing you can't bear to lose. And that's why she's our master's most valuable target."
Gojo's breath hitched, the truth of their words cutting deeper than any blade. Miyu isn't jusg an ordinary human; she is his greatest weakness, the one thing that could bring him to his knees. And their master knew it.
"But she's just an ordinary being," Gojo argues, though even as the words left his mouth, he knows they ring hollow. "What power could she possibly hold?"
The second captive grins, their eyes gleaming with malevolent glee. "That's where you're wrong. It's not about her power, but yours. As long as she's by your side, you're vulnerable. And our master will exploit that vulnerability until there's nothing left of you but despair."
Gojo's heart pounded in his chest, the weight of their words pressing down on him like a vice. He had always known the risks of caring for someone, of letting someone into his heart. But he hasn't anticipated how deeply that care would be weaponized against him.
