The hideout was nestled deep within the forest, a place where the sounds of the outside world were muted by the dense canopy of trees. It is a sanctuary Gojo had chosen not just for its isolation but for the peace it once promised. Tonight, however, the air inside feels thick with an unease that neither he nor Miyu could ignore.

Gojo pushed open the wooden door, stepping inside to find Miyu sitting by the low table, her violet eyes lifting to meet his. She could sense the weight he carries, the tension that coils within him like a tight spring ready to snap. He crosses the room in a few quick strides and sits down across from her, his usual air of confidence replaced by a grim determination.

"I've figured out our next move," Gojo begins, his voice steady but devoid of the usual lightness. "I'm going after them. Alone."

Miyu's brows furrowed at his words. "Alone? What do you mean? We've always faced things together, Satoru."

"Not this time," he replied firmly. "It's too dangerous. They're after something more than just a power. I can't let you be part of this."

"Too dangerous?" Miyu echoed, her tone sharpening. "Since when we have backed down from danger? Satoru, you're not making any sense. What aren't you telling me?"

Gojo's jaw tightened. The interrogation with the captives still replays in his mind, their sinister words echoing like a curse.

Miyu is the key.

They had said.

She's the most powerful possession our master seeks. Go after her, and you'll destroy everything you hold dear.

He couldn't bring himself to share those words with her, not now, not when the thought of losing her is too unbearable to face.

"You need to trust me on this," he said, his voice dropping to a near whisper. "I'm doing this to protect you."

Miyu's hands clenched into a fists, the frustration and fear she feels bubbling to the surface. "Protect me by leaving me behind? By keeping secrets from me? How can you expect me to trust you when you're shutting me out?"

"This isn't about trust," Gojo snapped, his patience thinning. "It's about keeping you safe. I won't risk your life, Miyu. Not for anything."

"But you're risking us," Miyu shot back, her voice trembling with the weight of her emotions. "Every time you shut me out, every time you decide for both of us, you're pushing me away, Satoru. How can we face this if you won't let me in?"

"But you're just a human, Miyu." Gojo stood abruptly, the movement sudden and jarring. He noticed the hurt on her face. He turned away from her, his hand digging into his pockets as he struggles to keep his own emotions in check. The fear of losing her, the overwhelming sense of helplessness, the need to protect her knowing she is his only future that is human and ordinary — it is all too much.

"I can't do this with you, Miyu" he said, his back is still turned to her. "I have to do it alone."

The silence that follows is deafening. Miyu felt a coldness seep into her chest, the reality of his words cutting deeper than any blade. She rose from her seat, her voice soft but laced with hurt. "If you walk out that door, Satoru, you'll be leaving more than just me behind."
