"After entering the IP address, you will be connected through a Darknet portal to an untraceable bank. Once logged in, enter your account number to receive wire transfers. The IP address will deactivate with each transfer. You will be assigned a new IP address if you choose to continue down the list. Remember, visual confirmation is always required for payment."Before the tape repeated itself, Scott paused as we sat there trying to understand the new information. The assassins really had the best sources and did well when it came to completing their missions. But in order to get paid, they had to send some type of proof of their accomplishments. A photo of the person they killed. The Benefactor was good. I don't think anyone else could come up with an idea of combining old technology with modern versions we use today.
"You ever made a wire transfer?" I asked as Scott's irises met mine.
He shook his head, "Never had enough money."
"So you didn't understand a word of that either?" Stiles inquired, placing his fingertips across his chin.
At this point, they really needed my help since I was the only in the room familiar with wire transfers. I never actually made one but I've seen it done a few times and I've done my research for them.
"I don't understand any of this." Scott said honestly. "Why would someone use all this money just to kill us?"
"Tsk. Why wouldn't someone want do this?" I asked as I shrugged. "I mean, we can do things no one else can do. Not a lot of people are fans of that kinda stuff."
They nodded.
"Someone wants Scott dead. Badly." Stiles said, causing Scott and I to freak out and throw the half of the money back in his gym bag. Stiles put a hand out, "Whoa, whoa, what are you doing?"
"It's late." Scott answered, continuing to shove the rest of the money inside the bag. "We've got the PSATs in the morning."
Our Alpha did have a point. But I honestly forgot about the testing. We've held off studying a lot more than we promised each other and I have no clue who or what gets the blame. Was it us? Maybe we could've planned studying more. Was it the Benefactor? Yeah maybe he could've chilled out and waited until we graduated. Was it the bored and greedy ass assassins? Absolutely.
"No, he meant the money." I sighed as I shook my head side to side. "$500,000. You know how much money that is?"
Scott looked a lost puppy and couldn't distinguish if I was asking him a trick question or he just couldn't count at the moment. "...It's $500,000—"
"It's half a million dollars. Scott." Stiles shrieked impatiently. "What are you going to do, just slide it under your mattress?"
"I could try to stuff it in my bra." I suggested.
