Waiting for school to start,
Having an extra hour.
Sitting on the bleachers,
In the far right corner.
Chatting away,
To these bright brown eyes.
Admiring her laugh,
Her smile, her lips.
Wanting to lean in and give her a kiss,
To show her my affection is my wish.
Gaining the guts to finally do it,
A tap on the shoulder made it all flush away.
Turning around,
To see a grinning friend.
"What?" I ask, annoyed at how my chance flew by,
"Your flirt is showing" she whispers, making me blush.
"Shut up" I hissed, unable to stop smiling,
"But she's straight, aren't I right."
As my smile fades,
And reality returns.
The truth of what she said was correct.
For Angelyn was straight.
Straight as a board,
Unable to break.
As reality floods back,
My anger starts to rise.
Rushing away,
So nothing could be reviled.
With my name being called,
And feelings still confused.
I didn't turn around,
Ashamed, afraid for being different.
For I love a heterosexual girl,
The straightest one I know.
She's like her hair,
Straight with no wave.
Opposite of me,
Curls that can't be straighten.
I know nothing would ever happen,
But my heart won't let her go.
