Okay soooo...

You're here for one of two reasons.

You either want to watch someone else get bullied for being a crappy writer...[not happening on my watch--get a grip. I'm cantankerous, not evil.]

OR...

You're secretly scared I am going to name YOU.

If it's the second, I can assure you, you are NOT the crappiest writer on Wattpad because...

...

........

...................Today, *I* am the crappiest writer on Wattpad.

Or at least on bad days, I think I am.

Except on days when I realize that:

The worst writer on Wattpad doesn't THINK they're the worst writer on Wattpad--they think they're the BEST writer on Wattpad and that we are all picking on them when we tell them they're not.

So...

What ARE we doing here today? Besides saving me some serious carpal tunnel by being able to link this page the next time someone freaks out after a critique?

We're going to talk about that meltdown that happens when you run into an accurate critique and it feels like crap and here's a big one no one wants to admit--you are now embarrassed to have publicly posted your story because deep inside you secretly wonder if you might be the crappiest writer on Wattpad?

Take a big breath after that run-on sentence.

Been there, done that myself, and typed a million of words in private message to writers who feel just the same way you do right now.

Contrary to Wattpaddian belief, no matter how a critiquer tries to pretty up their critique with sandwiching praise--real or fake, the impact on you might STILL feel like, "ZOMG what a mess I made! I wrote the crappiest story on WattPad Evar! I should know better!"--The last sentence feeling like a huge humiliation for those with English degrees or professional experience as writers.

The best writers on Wattpad, and even in the published world (gasp) have errors in their stories. Ol' eagle eyes here finds plenty of them. It's just a matter of having so few, they don't get in the way of the story.

Therefore...

Let's get some perspective.

You can't learn if you don't screw up.

↑↑↑Read that 3x.↑↑↑

You can't learn if someone doesn't help you find what's screwed up because while you may know your story doesn't work--you don't know why or you would have fixed it yourself before you posted, right?

If you care about what you write, your harshest critic will always be...

...YOU. Yes, YOU.

Yes, it feels awful today. Eat chocolate. Buy some BBQ potato chips, drink Strawberry Quik and watch a B horror film where the script was phoned in and you couldn't possibly have written a worse one if you were in a coma.

Tomorrow you will pick yourself up, dust yourself off and revise your story. Then, if you want to, you can always delete the critique after your revision (I don't know how any other critiquers/editors feel) and I won't even be offended. Know why?

Because it's not true anymore! You fixed it! MUWAHAHAHAHA! My evil plan has come to pass!

*POOF*!!! The Wonders of Wattpad!

Now everyone will thinks that the revised story they are reading is the one that was always there!

And thus, you no longer qualify as The Crappiest Writer On Wattpad.

Because you never were.
