I looked up through the haze of pain when I heard my voice, I thought I was hallucinating, It was Oriel I stared at her in shock. Her hair was cropped to a very short bob, She held my face in her hands and tears filled her eyes, she had to be real! She sobbed my name and murmured,
"It's okay Paxton we'll get out of here" Her hand leaves my face and I feel the tape get pulled off of my wrists. Oriel runs back and helps me to my feet. I breath in and follow her to a corner filled with rags. She sits me down and I pull her close breathing in her sent, the old scent of peppermint and clove. Tears fill my eyes and slowly slide down my face, I hold her so close and murmur her name again and again. Oriel shakes as she curls up against me, The only sound echoing in the night air are her sobs, until finally she falls asleep.
