Chapter 3. "For Sure For Sure!"

Kyle and I get up from our seats in math and head our way towards the classroom door.

"Uh, Ms. Harper, may I see you for a moment?" Mr. Nicolas's voice echoes.

I turn to look at Kyle. "Do you want me to wait for you?" Kyle asks with a small smile.

I shake my head and pat him on the shoulder. "No, you should catch up with Zoe, but, I'll see you guys later."

He nods and ruffles my hair before exiting. I turn around and walk up towards Mr. Nicolas's desk.

"Um, yes?"

He grabs his glasses off his shirt and places them on. "It looks like you finished your quiz?"

I nod, "Yeah."

He glances up at me and a smile begins to tug at the corner of his lips. "Only you and my two best students finished the quiz, with what looks like an A. I know it's only the second day of school but you seem to be doing very well. You were mostly an A and B student in high school, correct?"

"Uh, yes." I nod again.

"Now, your friend, Kyle. Is he always like that?"

I giggle, "Yeah, he can be weird but that's one of the reasons we're friends."

He chuckles and adjusts his tie. "Only a couple of classes you can work for extra credit, and math is one of them, depending on how your doing in school; I was wondering if you would want to help out to get some extra credit. It would add 15% to your grade."

"Sure, yeah, that would be great!"

He smacks his hands together and stands up. "Wonderful! It would only consist of you helping me grade some papers, helping students for 30 minutes to an hour after school, if they need it, organizing the classroom, and you could even do some extra worksheets."

"Alright, that sounds good. Thank you Mr. Nicolas."

He nods. "Anytime. Mind if I walk you out?"

"Um.. sure, if you want."

He places his hands on my upper back as we walk towards the front of the building. "About what happened at the restaurant. I wanted to apologize for how I came off. I didn't mean-"

"Say no more, it's alright Mr. Nicholas, no need to apologize. I understand. Mason can be a little over protective sometimes."

He smiles, "Thank you, Jordyn. I don't want to be on bad terms with Mason, he seems like a good man who stands up for the one he loves."

I nod. "He is a good person, that's one of the reasons I love him." I smile.

He nods and runs his fingers through his perfectly combed dark hair. "That's good to hear. Do you have your license?"

"I do, but I don't have a car so I don't drive very often. Actually I haven't drove in a couple of months." I tell him.

"Do you ever drive Masons car?" He inquires.

"Actually, no. Mason doesn't let anyone drive his car. It's like his baby, I guess." I giggle lightly. "It's funny when he gets mad at people for trying to even touch the steering wheel."

"I think everyone has something that they don't want others to touch or use."

I look up at him. "What's yours?"
