Here's a funny thing about the truth:
If you always tell the truth the first time around, chances are that the person will be mad for a sec, but they'll get over it. But if you lie about it the first time and then you tell the truth, you automatically become a person who is untrustworthy.
Wouldn't you rather someone just tell you the truth rather than sugar coat shit and string you along? Yeah. Makes sense now, doesn't it?
If y'all are anything like me, you've been screwed over so many times you start to question the ones you love I'm if they are loyal and have good intentions. Its not that we don't trust them, we don't trust ourselves enough to let them in. But sometimes it's good to be cautious. Because every once in a while, a person will come along and they'll lie so much they'll start to believe their own lies. But in the end, you didn't get hurt because you stood your ground.
Honestly, if we all quit lying and said how we really felt, there wouldn't be so much drama in life. But sometimes the truth hurts. I'd rather be offended than lied to, though.
And sometimes it takes people time to build up courage to tell the truth. And that's okay too. But don't lie in the process of trying to tell the truth. Lies hurt the most. If some people hadn't lied to me on a daily basis, we would probably still be friends. But we're not and that sucks for them because I happen to think I'm a pretty great friend to have.
If you even bothered reading this all the way to here, then really listen to this.
If you have a person: a mom, dad, sibling, boyfriend, girlfriend, or best friend or anyone else you can think of that you have lied to and have been lying to, stop.
Stop and tell the truth. If you really cared about them, and if you really loved them, then you wouldn't put yourself in a position to lose them. If you made a mistake, own up to it. That person will have more respect for you if you do. You don't want to be labeled a liar. That's the worst thing someone can be called. Its true that the truth sets you free. A lot of relationships don't work out because of their failure to communicate. If someone asks you something and you get defensive, that's already step one of losing them and their trust and respect for you. I've seen this mistake too often. And if this can help someone realize something then well shit, oh happy day.
But seriously. Cut the crap.
Chances are if you're lying they already know. So just tell the truth to save the time. Life's too short to make as many mistakes as we do that could have easily been avoided.
Peace,
-Madison
