The sky was nothing but a dark canvas and the stars shine dimly, barely making any sort of difference.
Except for the northern star that shone much brighter and the moon at a quarter waning in the sky that stands out the most, giving its own light as did the sun during the day.
But in the streets of New Orleans, those natural lights were overseen thanks to the lights of the city.
The Mobians here in the city walked along streets or driving cars or any other way of transportation to either go to their homes or going to work to make their livelihood. Such as a lavender colored female hedgehog who was currently making some final touches to a small but gorgeous light pink gown that already adorned a young soft pink hedgehog girl. The seamstress smiled as she retold a story the young girl had requested anytime she came to make a new dress for her.
But she never came alone.
She too has a pup of her own to look after but she always brings him with her because she couldn't leave him at home by himself. Especially if it's close to the evening when she is most needed. She does create or adjusts clothing at her home normally, but she was a special case since she knew this particular family.
So she let this one become an exception.
Her child was a young male hedgehog, the same age as the girl, with sapphire blue quills with a peach muzzle and arms. Under his shirt, his belly was also peach colored with short fur. While his mother wore a simple, slightly less saturated violet dress that came to her calves and flats to match, he wore a just as simple forest green shirt and off black shorts with dark green shoes to match the outfit without much effort.
Being a son of a seamstress makes it hard to go out looking like bum.
The boy and his currently squealing female friend had their different shades of green eyes focused on his sapphire colored eyed mother as they listened intently to the story she was telling. He may not like it much, but he loves it when his mother tells him.
Even if he had to get stuck in a room where it looked like a unicorn had just been murdered in it, he wouldn't change this moment of being with his best friend and spending time with his gentle mother.
She spoke in a soft tone with energy behind every word to get her young audience excited for the normally short and bland story that was "The Princess and the Frog".
"The princess stared at the frog in shock as he pleaded, 'Please my dear princess! Could you spare a kiss to save me from this curse I have been cast upon by a wicked witch?!'" the elder of the three said in a begging tone as she acted out the characters' lines in the story. The young male's eyes flashed for a second in slight confusion as he thought, "Wait... why did the witch curse him the first place?"
He raised an eyeridge and just sighed dismissing the question since he's probably not going to be granted an answer to an old story. On the other hand his friend was squeezing him too tight for him to dwell the thought enough. The pink girl squealed again as she whispered in her suffering friend's ear, "Here comes the best part!"
The male didn't think so.
His mother stopped for a bit to give hand gestures for this part acting out the princess's actions in the story as she said, "The Princess was quite touched and saddened about the frog's problem that she - without a word - bend down, allowed the frog to climb onto her hands, and slowly raised the small creature to her lips," this is where the male wished he could switch himself with a pillow if it meant to get out of his friend's death grip causing his peach colored muzzle, to match his quills slowly.
