[A/N: Sorry for the long wait. College was not letting up and I

finally got some time to write again! I'll make a few more to keep

you entertained!]

The hedgehog was excited as he stared at the old Sugar Mill that

would soon be his restaurant. He turned when his blue ear

twitched at the sound of grunts and creaking wood. He stared at

the two Mobians that now owns a property agency. A large green

crocodile carried out the for-sale sign as a purple chameleon

walked towards the young hedgehog. He shook his hand and said

to the other male, "We'll have the papers ready for tomorrow."

Then the lizard walked away and climbed into the old-fashioned

truck. Sonic knew he had finally gotten his restaurant but he

couldn't wait to make it official. He shouted to the two older males,

"I'll tell ya what, how about we sign at the masquerade ball

tonight!" He waved at the retreating truck as Vector called out to

the cobalt male, "You drive a hard bargain Sonic!"

And the truck was out of sight. Sonic shook his head as he was

about to turn his head when he heard a sweet older feminine

voice just behind him. Startled, he jumped and got into a fighting

stance. Before him was his slowly aging mother Aleena chuckling

softly at his antics. She held in her arms a large, old pot. "Calm

down young man. I'm just here to give you something to help you

get started." She explained calmly. Sonic's emerald orbs teared

up as he stared at the old pot his father use to make gumbo in.

The thought of his father left an ache in his heart.

He missed him dearly.

"Dad's old gumbo pot." He said simply to keep from breaking down. His mother just smiled softly wiping the tears from his eyes.

"I know. I miss him too." She said. Sonic sniffled and wiped away

the excess tears. He must be strong. He's about to own a

business. He stood tall as his mother giggled and started pushing

him to the double doors of the old building. "Now come on and

open the doors Sonic!" the older female exclaimed with

excitement laced in her voice. Sonic chuckled and gave her his

trademark grin. "Just look at it Ma! Doesn't it make you wanna

cry!?" the young hedgehog shouted spinning around with arms

wide with a bright smile on his face. His mother's excitement went

immediately to a frown of concern as she gazed around the

building. Wooden boards decorated the windows, cobwebs

everywhere. There were even broken chairs and pipes. She even

spotted a couple of rats. Let's just say his mother wasn't

impressed. "Yes..." she muttered softly enough that her son

couldn't hear. "Over here is the entrance and over here a gourmet

kitchen and then a crystal chandelier!" Sonic rambled as he

moved around with his speed pointing to multiple locations and

naming what they'll be. Aleena just smiled and chuckled at her

son's excitement.

"I'm sure this place will be lovely. But it's just a shame you have to

work so hard to get it." She said with worry in her voice. Sonic

sighed and turned to his mother and said with desperation, "Why

do I have to stop now when I'm so close Ma? I've gotta prove that Pa's hard work means something." His mother huffed and

slammed the pot on a rotting stool looking at Sonic with a stern

look. "Sonic, your Dad may not have gotten the place he's always

wanted but he had something better than that." "Like what?"

asked Sonic looking slightly confused. His mother smacked his

arm. "Ow!" "Love son! He had love!" she exclaimed. Her gaze

softened and she looked at her son. She rested her hand on her

son's cheek smiling. "And that's what I want for you sweetheart.

To find your Prince Charming or Princess and live happily ever

after." She said as she rest a hand on Sonic's shoulder while the

other held a broom. Sonic chuckled at his mother's reasoning.

"Ma! That's just fairy tales! I don't got time for that. That's gonna

have to wait. I ain't got no time to mess around. It's just not my

style. This town is just gonna slow you down. People taking the

easy way. I know what I'm doing Ma." He grabbed a broom and

started to sweep. "I'm almost there! I remember Pops said 'fairy

tales can come true. You just gotta make them happen. It all

depends on what you do.' So, I worked hard every day and to

make sure things go my way!" he said as he climbed the stairs

taking down the boards off the upstairs window. "People are

gonna come here from miles!" he shouted as he slid down the

railings and landed in front of his mother who was sitting down on

an old but intact chair next to a table. Sonic hugged Aleena and

spoke softly, "I've been through trials and challenges." He pulled

away and pulled his mother up and they began to clean up a bit.

"But I've climbed a mountain and crossed the river! I'm almost

there! I can feel it!" He exclaimed pumping his fist in the air. His

mother put her hands on her hips and smirked. "You your father's

son alright." She said as she picked up the pot and the two left.

But when they closed the door, the banister fell over.
