A/N: Hi guys! Just got back from ANOTHER hospital stay so I'm sorry about the infrequent in which I am posting these one shots. I still hope that you enjoy them!

No, no, no, no, no.  This could not be.  This could not be!  Not my Nagito!  Not my Nagito!

His cackling laugh echoed throughout the court room, bouncing off the walls, and ringing in my ears.

No.  This did not make sense.  The kind, gentle, lovable boy that I once knew.  Was he gone?

"We are all just stepping stones for hope!," he cried out, his eyes swirling wildly and his hands shaking dangerously.  "I am just a stepping stone to hope!"

Hope?  What was all this about hope?

"Y-you're crazy!," Kazuichi cried out in shock, pulling his beanie over his ears as if that would protect him from the truth.

No.  This could not be.

"Hajime," he suddenly said, turning to me, making me freeze mid-thought.  "Do you think less of me?," he asked gleefully.  "Do I make you despair?  Do you want to hurt me now?  Do you want to kill me now?"  I shook my head violently.

"No," I replied quietly.  "I just want to know why you did this."

"Well, love, like I said-," he started but he was cut off by Mahiru

"Love?!," she shrieked.  "Were-were you guys... were you guys together?"  I just hung my head and nodded.  I could feel tears forming in my eyes.  "Were together".  Not "are together."  "Were together."  Nothing would ever be the same again.

Suddenly it was like a dam broke inside my head, letting water gush down to my eyes.  "How could you?!," I screamed, tears rolling down my face.  "How could you try to kill someone?!  How could you have not foreseen your plan backfiring after you told Teruteru?!  Byakuya is dead now because of you!"

He looked nonplussed by this.  "Because," he started slowly.  "You are all Ultimates.  I, a mere Lucky Student, getting into Hopes Peak by lottery.  What a joke.  You guys are the world's hope.  And I must create stepping stones in order for that to work."

"No one's following, you idiot," Saionji spat.  Komaeda just stared at her, and then smiled.  But it wasn't his usual, warm hearted smile.  It was cold and unforgiving.  "Ah," he said in a somewhat dissapointed, yet superior tone.  "I knew that you guys wouldn't understand.  Only I would."

Tears were still rolling down my face like a river, but I did not speak.

Then Komaeda turned to me.  "And what do you think of all this, love?"

I suddenly became stiff.  I had to say the words I had been dreading saying since we had met."I'm sorry Komaeda..."

"But we're over."

A/N:  it killed me to write that but I did it.  I hope that you liked it in some weird way lol.  Anyways, sorry that it was so short.  I promise that the next one will be longer!
