A/N:  This one shot was inspired by another one shot by Sins-of-Tragedy.  I definitely recommend that you check her out if you love Komahina! :)

"Promise me something," I asked, but it was more of an order.  To be honest I was terrified.  I could feel that this would be the last time that I saw him.  But I didn't want to succumb to that feeling of dread.  I wanted to believe that he would be returning.

"Yeah, what is it?," the white haired male asked, not looking half as concerned as I was.  "Promise me that you will come home," I said, placing my hand on his shoulder.  He smiled at me reassuringly.  "Babe I'll be back, don't worry," he told me, pressing his forehead to mine.  "It's only nine months.  I'll be back.  And then we will have our wedding.  Plus, this will give me worth."

He said that last sentence much more quiet than he had the others.  I hated it when he said things like that about himself.  He was so worth it.  I loved him dearly.  "Love, don't say that about yourself," I said soothingly, rubbing his back.  "You are already worth it."

Komaeda was silent, telling me that he understood me but did not agree.  I just sighed.  "Just please come home," I said, nearing the point of tears.  He let go of our embrace, staring me straight in the eye, smiling reassuringly.  "Don't worry, I will."

Then he left.  He got into the military car.  Going overseas to fight for our country.  When the car finally went out of sight, I buckled over in sobs.  He wasn't coming back.  I knew he wasn't.

-6 months later-

Those six months had been hard, but I had been holding on to the hope that I would see him again.

On this day I was checking the mail.  A feeling of dread fell into the pit of my stomach as I walked across the drive way to the mailbox, but I suppressed it as best I could.  As I opened the mailbox, there was only one letter in there.  I picked it up and read it.  It was from the military.

-time skip like 10 minutes-

He was gone.  He was dead.  Never coming back.  I couldn't believe it.  I just stared at the letter for about 10 minutes, just re-reading it, wide eyed, unable to belive that this had really happened.

I realized that I was crying only when I saw drops of water soaking into the paper.  Then I just started bawling.  I crumpled to the floor a mess.  I gripped my hair with my hands and rocked back and forth trying to calm myself down, but to no prevail.

He was dead.  He wasn't coming back. My Nagito Komaeda had been killed on the battle field.  We would never get married.  We would never adopt a child.  We would never grow old today.

He was gone...

He was gone...

He was gone....
