🥀 two years later 🥀

I wake up to the sound of a vacuum cleaner, but it wasn't coming from the inside.

I sluggishly look through my window, trying to move some of my bed head hair out of my eyes.

I see my dad using a snowblower to get rid of the snow that had piled up in our driveway over night.

I flinch, as my nose touches the freezing cold window. I get out of bed and pull over my robe, heading downstairs for breakfast.

I breathe in the smell of warm pancakes, through my nose

I breathe in the smell of warm pancakes, through my nose. "Mmmm" i hum.

"Good morning sleepy head" mum says laying a plate of pancakes on the table. "Sit down, these are yours birthday girl." she smiles.

"Oh yeah it's my birthday" i laugh sitting down in front of my pancakes. I don't think much of my birthday, it's just like any other day.

"How was your sleep?" mum asks.

"It was okay" i say. I look at my fingers. I lift my ring finger up so that i can see my ring. It sparkles a little as the dim light from the window shines on it. I turn it around so the word 'His' faces up.

It's been too damn long. I haven't seen Grayson for 2 years. He calls me all the time, saying that he misses me. But I told him to move on, and he probably has cause he told me 2 weeks ago he's been busy, and he hasn't called me at all since then. I really hope he has, i don't want him to be in a long distance relationship.

While he's probably moved on, i'm still here looking at this damn ring. I can't take it off, it's like when my hands want to take it off, my brain is like YEET. And it's stayed on ever since he first gave it to me. I miss him alot and every song that comes on the radio reminds me of him, every song!

I run my finger over the word, feeling where it had been engraved. It's like he's been gone for ever...

"What do you want to do for your birthday?" mum asks.

"I think i might go out with Adriana, Julia and Brooke" i say.

"Okay, but we can have a family party tomorrow" mums says.

"Sure" i say. I bluetooth my phone to the boom speakers and turn Don't on. "And Ma" i say.

"Mm" she hums.

"You know how i mentioned, moving out" i say, holding my head in one hand, giving her a cheesy smile.

My mum leans her arm against the fridge. "Hmm" she says. "Are you sure Jessy? You can always stay for one more year" she says.

"Mum, i'll be 20 by then" i laugh. "Plus you'll have one less child" i chant

She sighs. "Alright" she says pushing herself off the fridge. "We'll talk about it later, i need to go and drop a few things at your uncle's house, take dad's car when you have to go.
