Chapter 7

(Central station square 6:45)

Shadow was pacing back and forth in front of the water fountain that was trickling in the background. His nerves kicked in and a gut wrenching feeling in his stomach made him light headed. This all was because of one person.

Dawn.

She was the second girl that he had ever opened up to. When they met she was bringing out the better and gentle side of him. Shadow was wearing the first things he saw in his closet. White shirt, black hoodie, blue jeans, and his hover shoes. He checked his phone (A/N: yes the characters do have phones...just to switch it up heheh!) the illuminated numbers on the tiny screen read, 6:50.

Shit. He wasn't ready. Shadow stopped and sat down at the edge of the water fountain.

'You just have to clear your mind and ask her!' he coaxed with himself. He raked a shaky hand through his rough quills, tugging them at the ends.

"hey dawn I was just thinking if maybe we could take it down town- oh god that sounds like I am a creeper!" he sighed, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt. "Uh okay deep breaths! Hey dawn I was wondering if I could escort- no she isn't a princess!!" frustrated, he buried his face in his hands.

(Dawn's POV)

What a coincidence.

A girl rummaging through her clothes and freaking out about what to wear. Of course.

This comes as no surprise to me.

I finally stopped throwing things across the room to an unknown corner once I found a outfit that suited nicely.

A white skirt with a blue sweater.

As I finished getting ready for the occasion, I couldn't help but wonder, how is this going to turn out?

By the way his figure looked on the beach, shoulders hunched, head low. I could tell he was in distress. How am I going to handle it?

By simply shrugging the thought off my shoulder, I hurried to get my black flats on before I rushed out the door.

Looking around I spotted a red and black hedgehog sitting by the water fountain with his head in his hands.

I crept up and sat next to him, hoping that he would notice and greet me, but he didn't move an inch. I tapped him on the shoulder and he jumped into a fighting stance.

I laughed, "Its just me."

"Oh hey Dawn. Sorry you scared me..." he trailed off at the last part. I folded my arms across my chest and eyed him carefully.

I giggled at him, "So why did you want me to meet you here??"

(Shadow's POV)

'I can't believe she actually showed up!' I thought, 'it seems that she cares.'

"So why did you want to meet you here??" she tilted head in confusion.

'Does she regret coming is that why she is asking me this?' I thought to myself. I quickly shook the thought out of my head and stared at her, my nervousness starting to show.

"I wanted to get to know you better." I scratched the back of my head nervously and chuckled. She took the answer quite nicely and I saw the slightest smile tug at her lips.

She giggled, "Well okay, what do you want to do that can help us 'bond'?"

I realized then, that I had nothing planned. I mentally slapped myself for not even planning anything ahead of time. I was in deep thought then it came to me, "We can go to twinkle park. I heard cute couples get in for free! I mean not that we are a couple its-"

"its okay I get it. we can pretend like we are a couple and get in for free!" she interuptted me with a smile.

'nice going shadow...' I thought to myself.

"okay lets go!" I mumbled a little flustered after what I said. I took her hand and led her in the direction towards the park, "do you wanna get there fast??" I asked smirking.

"okay I wanna race there!" she smirked at me as I nodded in agreement.

"Ill count off...three...two...one...GO!" I skated down towards the park at almost the speed of sound.

"looks like you are faster than I thought you would be!" I turned to see Dawn with her heels in her other hand running next to me. I stared in amazement. the only other person I knew who could run as fast as me or sonic was Amy but she wears a special type of chip that tails made to run that fast.

I sped up getting a little more compettetive. She also sped up matching my speed. I was never beaten so I decided to go for it and go the fastest I could go, an earpearcing 'boom' sounded as I broke the sound barrier. then I heard a faint sigh as we arived at the park. I beat her to the park!

"I WON!" I danced around like an idiot! she giggled and punched me in the arm playfully.

"you are such an idiot!" she rolled her eyes. I feel like ive known her forever. she brings out the 'fun' side to me.

I offered my arm as she took it and linked arms with me. we walked to the gate as we were let in without any fee because we were a 'couple' pshhhh stupid humans being so foolish.

(Tails' POV Twinkle Park)

I swung the hammer as hard as I could and it hit the target with all the force I pushed into it. A loud RING was heard as I leaped for joy finally getting the bell to ring.

"you can pick from anything on the racks." the man owning the atraction said stepping aside to let me pick.

"hmmmm" I skimmed through the racks untill I found a large teddy bear with a blue bow. "that one!" I pointed to it as the man got it and handed it to me. I smiled as I spun around to see a tan colored rabbit and held out the bear to her

"Oh thank you tails its so sweet of you!" she kissed me on the cheek as I took her hand. she was the love of my life and was no other than Cream the rabbit. a sweet and sensitive rabbit who was on a date with me tonight at twinkle park. When we rounded the corner I asked, "so how has buissness been going on with GUN?"

she shrugged, "not that much crimes...for me to deal with anyways. Just some minor crimes and such." she pursed her lips together as she looked up in thought

I stared at her for a moment before saying, "You are too cute when you explain stuff, you know that??"

she blushed, "no I didnt"

I chuckled and looked forward, I gasped, "Is that shadow!??!?
