Chapter 15: What Happened?

Beep...Beep...Beep...

I woke up to an annoying beeping sound, and voices whispering.

"Like dude why isn't she awake yet it's been forever." Hey that's Jackie...

"Be patient it's only been a few hours," Taveon answered.

"And why the hell haven't I gotten any answers about what's going on!" She whisper yelled.

"Because I haven't given you any woman!" He whispered back.

Slap!

"Ow! Damn woman! Why!"

"Because one, you were being too loud when Renae is right there sleeping! Two, you were being a smart ass, and three, because I felt like it!" She said. I could just see the smirk on her face. Then all I hear is mumbling probably from Tav then another slap.

"Stop mumbling about me!"

"It wasn't about you!"

"Oh..well still!"

Taveon groaned and a thump sounded through the room.

I started to open my eyes only to feel like they were glued shut. They felt so heavy. As I started to wake up more, I felt that I was in a bed, most likely still in David's room. I started to move around a bit.

"Ree?" Upon that voice speaking the steady of the beeping picked up. Damn, I didn't know my heart literally sped up when I heard his voice.

"Ree, baby? Come on open your eyes."

My eyes slowly fluttered open, only to be met with the ceiling of David's bedroom. I looked to my left to find David eyeing me. I looked around the room to see Taveon on the floor face down, and Jackie sitting on the couch. I rubbed my face with my hands and turned back to David.

"How are you feeling?"

"My stomach stings. What'd you do? What happened?"

"Archedilles. He's near us. He tried to mark you while we were on our date," David paused as anger and regret flashed through his eyes, "my brother and I shouldn't have interfered with your lives. Now you are in danger."

"What? No, David stop it. Yes our lives may be in danger but we've never been happier. For Pete's sake we were strippers before we met you guys! Me, since I was 16 and Jackie, 15! That man who claims to be our real father tried to rape me my first week there. This, being chased by some enemy creepy guy that wants revenge on you, yes it's scary, but I've got you and Jackie has Tav, and we are happy here with the two of you. Even if we're in danger."

"Renae. You could possibly die staying with me."

"And I WILL die without you. David don't do this to me!"

"Ree. I have to finish what Archedilles started. I have to fight him. I need to finish this."

"Do you honestly think leaving my sister and I alone will keep us safe? You know damn well he'll only send someone after us to get at the two of you!"

David was quiet and thoughtful for a few moments.

"David how did you take whatever it was out?"

"I originally thought he planted it in one of your organs, but I saw your skin change on your leg and realized it was in your blood. I pretty much drank it out of your blood and spit it in a bowl."

My eyes widened in shock. Drink my blood? That's kind of weird... and in a way kind of kinky.

Look, Renae. Drinking your blood means we have a much stronger bond now. And although I should probably leave you here with all of this protection, I cannot. I want to, I need to, just to keep you safe but I can't."

"David." I reached my arms out for him to climb in bed beside me. He did so and held me close burying his face into the crook of my neck. "Baby, everything will be fine. We'll make it through. Maybe a few injuries but we'll live, okay?"

He nodded and placed small kisses where his face was hidden.

"'Bout damn time we got some answers..." Jackie mumbles under her breath.

"Jacquline and Taveon have already packed their bags, and I've already done ours. We're going some where Archedilles would never dare to look for us."

David nodded to his brother and took the heart monitor off my finger. He slowly helped me up, and it was then that I noticed I was now in fresh clothes.

"Who changed me?"

"I did Ree don't worry. David was going to but I knew you might freak out if he did. But then again you might've liked it anyway." Jackie winked at me then smiled laughing to herself. I rolled my eyes and flipped her the bird, only making her laugh harder.

I slowly began to walk towards the door with David.

And to think this is just the start of a very long adventure.
