You rubbed your temples, then buried your face in your folded arms, leaning against the table, trying to tune out the endless stream of bickering and sounds of things being knocked over and thrown about. It's been like this for three days...
Tomoe and Mizuki had used many methods to attempt to kill each other, mostly just fought by throwing around chairs and pans and such. The constant noise of their yelling and fighting had kept you awake the past two nights, and though you ordered Tomoe and Mizuki at least twice to stop, they easily overcame the small little lightning bolt of pain that came with disobeying an order and continued to be extremely annoying.
You asked Kotetsu and Onikiri what was going on, and they simply said that the stronger the order, the stronger the bonding, and apparently your godly powers were almost as low as your self esteem after you realized how worthless you really were.
A toaster bounced off the table, thrown apparently by Mizuki, and you slid lazily to the side, letting it bounce up above your head and crash onto the other side of the table.
You pushed yourself up, rubbed your eyes, and waved sluggishly at the bickering familiars before going into your room and closing the paper-thin door.
The floor of your room was cluttered with talismans, most of which were written on, and the area was dimly lit by a lamp. There were a few spots where ink had dropped onto the wooden floor, and hopefully they could be wiped off magically or something, because regular soap and water definitely did not work.
You had a few assorted objects strewn about, a tree branch, a rock, a doll, bits of string, a knife you had taken from the kitchen, (the only one not buried in a wall somewhere in the house), and a lock of your hair you had tied together with a red string. You hadn't had anything to go off of but the fact things can only turn into something you could do yourself, and had used up many talismans trying to figure out what exactly a human could do. It wasn't much.
You had no idea why the 'air' talisman worked for invisibility, but that one was one of the most useful. You had also discovered that if you wrote your name on a talisman and stuck it to something, that object would turn into an illusion of you. That could be useful as well, especially because the other you was real to the touch and reacted to anything exactly like you would. The only way to break the illusion was to rip off the talisman or kill the illusion by stabbing it or something. Even then, the body would remain for a short time until the talisman lost its power.
Then came the greatest discovery.
If it was within your abilities, the talismans could do it.
But, that didn't mean that you couldn't have help.
For instance, if you had a water bottle in your backpack, it was within your abilities to splash someone, correct?
Then, with the talismans, you discovered that if you put a talisman on your palm or held it in your hand, with a paragraph of words you had found out worked through trial and error, you could control water, the talisman could teleport and propel the water from your water bottle into the air. But... that wasn't very useful... what if...The idea came to you suddenly, and you couldn't help feeling a flood of excitement was over you.
You slipped a hoodie over your head and slunk out of your room, ignoring Tomoe pinning Mizuki to the wall by his neck.
"I'm going out for a bit," you called nonchalantly, and left the shrine, mind churning with ideas, fingers stroking the smooth paper talisman in your jeans pocket.
This is gonna be great.
