We drove for a while and ended up in Atlanta, Georgia. Nikolai agreed that we needed at least one night's rest in a hotel rather than fighting over back seat rights. So we stopped at a shabby hotel on the outskirts of town.
"This hotel looks like it's been here for eighty years. We couldn't have stopped somewhere with indoor plumbing?" Demitri remarked as we walked into the lobby. "Shut up, Demitri. Be glad we're stopping." Nikolai snapped. He was rather grumpy today; he hadn't slept in at least 36 hours. "So pissy." I joked, elbowing him as he stalked in front of me to the front desk. "I need two rooms." The lady at the front desk smiled a fake smile and handed him two keys. We walked up the stairs - of course there was no elevator- and found our rooms. Unfortunately, Nikolai and I were met with some unfriendly faces when we entered our room.
"Who the fuck are you and why are you in our room?!" I hollered when I saw three large men with rifles sitting on the couch. "Little lady has a temper, eh?" the one in the middle says. "Worse than you know. Now who are you?" Nikolai demanded. The one on the left laughed. Nik sneered at him. He looked rather intimidating when he was pissed. He was already a bulky, muscular guy. But when he was this mad, he looked even bigger than he actually was. He grabbed my arm and pulled me behind him. "Aww does the poor lady need protection?" the other idiot that hadn't spoke up yet finally said. I pushed around Nikolai, standing straight in front of the goon who spoke about me. I didn't take well to people who talked about me like I was defenseless. My dad made sure I was able to defend myself. "Listen here, fucker. Speak about me like I'm not here one more time, and I'll chop your dick off and feed it to wolves. Got it?" I said, sticking my finger in his chest. He grabbed my arm and stuck his gun to my head. I maneuvered out, knocking his gun out of his hand in the process. I quickly retrieved it, immediately knocking him upside the head just hard enough to knock him on the floor. He lie there, hands clutching his head. I took my stiletto clad foot and placed it squarely on his chest. "Are you done?" I asked, sneering at him. His eyes were wide with surprise. Meanwhile, another stupid goon attempted to hold Nik at gunpoint. Nikolai quickly disarmed him, holding him up by his neck against the wall. The third idiot ran out the door as quickly as possible. "Fucking puss." the guy I had under my heels hissed out. I looked over and saw Nikolai pull his phone out. "What're you doing?" I asked him, pushing down on the guy's chest still harder. "I'm calling Jaxson." he replied, still pinning the largest guy to the wall. "Shit. We're the worst hitmen ever." said the guy Nik was holding. He had released his grip only slightly as to keep him alive.
Long story short, Jaxson was forced to call off his dumb ass goons. Nikolai had to threaten him within an inch of his life and both of them ran off, tail between their legs- metaphorically of course. Emmeline and Demitri came in not long after they left wondering what all the commotion was. "You idiots heard us being held at gunpoint and didn't give us any backup?!" I exploded on them. My patience was stretched to its limit. "Uh.. we were making out?" Emmeline tried to defend. "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN IF YOU WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF SCREWING LIKE RABBITS WHEN YOUR TWO LEADS ARE IN NEED OF HELP YOU BETTER DAMN WELL HELP!" I screamed in her face. "Oh like you wouldn't do the same if it were you and Nikolai." Em retorted. "Don't test me, Emmeline. I will put you in your place." I seethed. She shut her mouth and stared at the wall, obviously trying not to piss me off any more. Nikolai crossed the room, wrapping his arms around me and kissing my forehead. I softened a bit, relaxing. "It's fine, love. We handled it, it's fine." he said, releasing me and plopping down on the couch. My phone began to ring off the hook. Kind of ironic how long I had been gone and nobody noticed. "Break it." Nik said without looking at me. "Excuse me?" I said. "I said break it. We can't be traced." he said, finally meeting my eyes. I nodded, immensely unhappy as I threw my phone out of the window. I watched as my phone took a drop of three stories and shattered into several pieces. Turning away, I sighed and looked to the rest of my entourage. "We need to eat and get some rest." I said, walking towards the front door of the cupboard-sized room. The other three followed behind me sluggishly as I found a decent restaurant nearby.
The next day, we were back on the road by 5:30 am. "Hey cutie. Wake up." Nikolai said, shaking me gently. I hit him with his own pillow and pulled the covers over my face. He climbed on top of me, pulling at the blanket. He wrestled the blanket free from my death grip and began giving me tiny kisses all over my face, attempting to make me get up. I groaned and sat up, Nikolai still sitting on me. "Would you get off of me?" I said, rather irritated that he had woken me up so early in the morning. "Of course, love." he said calmly. I got up and went straight to the tiny, shoebox sized bathroom. I changed quickly into some comfortable joggers and my favorite tank. I brushed my teeth and threw my hair into a bun, fully ready for the rest of our trip down to Orlando. Nikolai came in and looked me up and down. "Okay, I know I look like a hobo that you grabbed off the street." I said, rolling my eyes at the face that he was making. "No, Alethia. You look great in those joggers.. but I'm pretty sure they're mine." he said, chuckling. "Maybe they are." I replied, knowing full well that they were definitely his.
A/N: Next chapter will wrap up their road trip to Orlando ;)
