COMPETITION

_________________________

"It's happening!"

Mia just flew inside the classroom shout-singing while holding a huge poster in her hands. Naomi knew her best friend enough years to know that whatever she was holding was something big to cause her to freak in that way. She wasn't the person to make a fuss out of nothing. Well, except when she was on one of B.A.P's concerts passionately screaming Bang Yong-guk's name like some crazy maniac.

"Will you stop moving around like some lunatic and tell me why you are screaming in eight in the morning. Seriously, you are causing me a headache."

At her surprise, Mia looked at her in disbelieve and with a lifted eyebrow. She acted as if she knew about some medical miracle or a cure for cancer.

"You still don't know? Where do you live woman, under a rock? The competition is ON!"

"Give me that."

Hearing that, Naomi looked at her wide eyed. Snitching the poster away from her hands to see on her own and affirm that her ears heard Mia's words correctly.

Now she finally understood why her friend was acting all crazy in the morning. The mentioned competition was not just any kind of ordinary competition. It was happening almost every year, but for dance students in their last year of high school, it was like a life event. To anyone participating it was a life changing opportunity; that competition was a free ticket for the good colleges. Even the directors from big entertaining companies were going to be present on the competition and they were going to dig the hidden talents and possibly turn them into stars.

"Finally, I thought it will never happen."

Naomi squealed suddenly hugging her best friend as a cause of her joy. Her excitement was understandable because the competition was everything that she trained and prepared for the past years.

"And you thought that I overreacted; wait 'till dance class to see the biggest excitement. Just imagine Ms. Sung's reaction, when she finds out about this."

⋆⋆⋆

They were right about their dance teacher's reaction. The woman, just like Mia flew inside the classroom and began blabbing even from the front door. She was talking so fast that she looked like she wasn't even taking breaths in-between words.

After calling them by their well familiar nicknames, half of the class shut her off knowing that she would repeat the things she was saying at least ten times until the next class. And after one month, they would surely have her speech memorized word by word.

"This is huge, my chickens. Aren't you all excited for the competition? I can't wait for it to begin, so I have many ideas. What do you say we start training as teams? How about pairs, duos? Trios? Any ideas? How about..."

And her blabbing continued for the next twenty minutes until she finally decided to stop and take a breath; not that she was exhausted but because her face started to turn blue from the lack of oxygen.

"Well it was about time, I was already on my way to dreamland..."

Mia said to Naomi in half whisper causing the group around them to burst into a laugh.

"Yes Mia, did you say something? Perhaps you have some idea to add?"

"No Ms. Sung, we can do yours. Duos sound excellent."

As Mia's words left her mouth Ms. Sung squealed in excitement, yes she literally squealed and earned almost disgusted glares from her students. She was known to be extra with her reactions, but sometimes they were just too much to handle.

"I knew that you would like it... That's why I already made the pairs."

Saying that she turned towards her small wooden desk placed in the corner of the studio to take the papers that apparently already contained the pairings, without even waiting for another idea from her students. Not that anyone would have bothered to go against her.

"Why the hell did you agree with pairs?"

Naomi took that time to turn towards her best friend and question her sudden agreement with their teacher's mad idea. Pairs weren't exactly a bad idea, but also they weren't a good one for the dancers like Naomi. From small legs she learned to depend only on her own when it came to dancing. She was great in doing solos as she had a habit of practicing 'till late at night and early in the mornings. Who would adjust with her crazy schedule?

"Why do you think? Obviously, to get her off our heads! Imagine if we didn't agree with her, she would have flipped out. This way she would finally stop and plus we would surely be paired together."

"I hope you are right."

But Mia was far from right because when Ms. Sung started to call the pairs one by one, she assigned her with another student, who was surprisingly none other than Mia's boyfriend Jung Hoseok.

Talk about luck there.

Ms. Sung continued to pair her students until there were none left and secretly Naomi pleaded in the back of her mind to be left without a partner. But apparently she wasn't as lucky as her best friend. When her name was called, the name that followed after froze the blood floating in her veins. She was about to give away her soul, hoping that she had heard wrong.

"And the last pairing ... Naomi Jones and Park Jimin."

Wide eyed, Naomi looked around the room searching for the devil's eyes, only to find him already looking at her. He had a mocking grin on his lips and shook his head, chuckling silently.

Looks like one dream just came true.
